I think this topic has run its course for the moment. If something significant comes up feel free to ask for this to be reopened/create a new topic - but I think most of what needed to be said has been covered between this thread and our own thoughts. Time to focus on more important topics :dev:

There are a few areas we'd like to focus on during the next update. HWDB being one of them, tutorials/guides discovery is another. As a general comment, we love suggestions! We also love when people who have suggestions are able to help implement them. So if anyone has experience in PHP (and some basic HTML/CSS) and would like to contribute to the site - especially in one of the areas listed above, then we would welcome them with open arms. We are all volunteers here, so the limiting factor for this site is manpower  :moil:

Doable yes, worth it probably not. OS is of limited use compared to hardware - I'm writing this from Windows for example. Now automatically formatting hardware would be an interesting feature, and that is something I've been planning to add for well over a year now. Small sketch of what I was thinking: User adds "components" to a "build". The "builds" are then listed on their profile/signature and can also be viewed in a section of the HWDB. Going a little bit further, if they open a new topic, allow selecting a "build" they've added so people reading the topic know all the relevant details, and the "components" pages would link to the appropriate threads.

Settings issue, should be fine now

#1952966 Some more wiki issues

Reported the first issue to our host :). We can't really do much about the 2nd at the moment. Hopefully at some point the wiki will be replaced/complemented by the HWDB, so not much point spending our resources on it right now.

No problem, likely because the JS changed since we updated and you had an old copy :)

#1922974 Best Answer

Posted by Poco on 12 June 2013 - 04:06 AM

With the update earlier today to the latest version of the forum software (IP.Board), we've enabled a new "Best Answer" feature for all question/answer forums. This will allow both the topic starter and moderators to flag a post as the most useful answer to the original question.  In addition to highlighting the post, a new preview box will be shown at the start of the thread with a direct link to the full solution.  As its use increases, we hope this will help members find better/relevant solutions faster, enjoy :)

your account is still there, but youll need to click the 'forgot your password' link. I tried the "forgot my password" link and went back to my e-mail that I got when I subscribed and insured I had the right e-mail address and username.
