#2038072 Radeon R9 270X framebuffer issue

Posted by Blame73 on 08 July 2014 - 08:50 AM

Anyway, I'm not sure it's working correctly as it should cause last night I made a couple of benchmarks and I had the same - if not worse - score I had with my previous ATI 4890 (...)Even, ACL showed me R9 was performing at half the bandwidth speed than the 4890, that's obviously the way it should work.I also installed the dmg from the "best answer post" but nothing changed. I think I should just have to wait for my new motherboard to be delivered. Blame73, thank you for your response. I seems that I am the only person where the 270X does NOT work out of the box :( For example I cannot even install Mavericks/Yosemite because I get a black screen (connected via DVI) when I boot the install USB thumb drive in order to install the OS. And sleep doesn't work during the install process - so I have to put in my old graphics card in order to install the OS :/ Your ConnectorsPatch didn't work either for me :( Same problem - HDMI and one DVI doesn't work (display goes to standby) a...

#2037911 Radeon R9 270X framebuffer issue

Posted by Blame73 on 07 July 2014 - 11:27 PM

So I just installed Yosemite DP2 (not yet DP3) and I got the same problem again: My display goes black after boot and after computer sleep and wake, I get a picture. HDMI and the other DVI is not working. I injected the same fixes as for Mavericks but my guess is, that the strings of the frame buffer, that have to be replaced, changed and therefore, my search and replace command from clover doesn't work. I tried to read the AMDFramebuffer.kext with that ati-personality.pl script but it doesn't seem to work properly - even after light editing. Anyone else on Yosemite yet? Hey VirusX, I'm running Yosemite right now (updated to the last version via software update). I just pugged in my brand new Sapphire R9 270X I got today and it's working fine... well, I'm waiting for my new MB and CPU and right now I stuck into my old P5B with a Q8200@3GHz, so it's not performing very well (since it's a PCIE1.1 MB), but at least is working. I'm booting via clover and I just added this few lines to...

#2032945 [Tuto] QE_CI Exotic Patch via Clover

Posted by Blame73 on 21 June 2014 - 10:55 PM

I put it in the config.plist and I correctly see it even in the clover configurator, but still no QE/CI just a 1280x1024 resolution and a very lag system... any advices?BTW I got an ATI 4890 (that I correctly see in system information) Thanks again. Nevermind, I finally did it!I think the problem was I had the npci=0x2000 flag. Once I removed it it worked! Thanks again, it also works with the OS X 10.10 (14A261i) update I just installed!

#1905074 [HOW TO] enable HDMI DP DVI output on ATI 4890 4870 4850 4830 series (TESTING)

Posted by Blame73 on 09 April 2013 - 08:06 AM

I am not currently running 10.8.3 on my system, can someone test this for me for hardware acceleration on unsupported cards and simultaneous dual-link DVI+HDMI displays output? UPDATE: Moved to 10.8.3, been tested. Works. Attached are patched Apple ATI Radeon HD 48xx Graphics drivers for OS X 10.8.3 (12D78), consisting of version 8.10.44 of ATI4800Controller.kext and ATIRadeonX2000.kext with both netkas' QE/CI ATI Radeon HD 48xx "exotic" card patch and my HDMI MotMot framebuffer patch. Both kexts need to be installed with Cindori's Kext Drop or something else that properly installs kext files. Thanks, it works on my 4890 Sapphire Vapor-X 1Gb too! I have DVI + HDMI working fine, just had to add: <key>display_1</key><string>display_4</string>in order to have the HDMI and not the VGA as a second monitor

I think this is one of the reasons why Apple still 'allows' (pass me the word) InsanelyMac and other forums like this one: we normally buy softwares, stuff like apple mouse/trackpad/... and we often end up buying Apple hardwares (iMac/mini/etc...) BTW, enjoy your new toy, it's a choice I'm gonna do soon too :)

#1898938 Forum inactivity

Posted by Blame73 on 20 March 2013 - 09:39 AM

I insist: there's no "inactivity crisis" either in the forum or in the OSX86 scene. This kind of thing is cyclical, and frequently follow a close time relationship with Apple's releases and updates. Some days ago, Apple released 10.8.3: the activity in the forum has been intense since then, even in topics that hold no relationship with the release. See? In fact, this release reaffirmed one thing: we (insanelymac.com) are still the biggest community of the whole scene (being the best was never matter of doubt). All the best! Yep, I think taht's the point. It worked for me that way too: I'm not able to help that much other users, so I'm not posting very much, but when a new release comes out it takes me a couple of hours (or days) to have it all up and running again, and I'm here again to make some kind of 'activity' just to then 'disappear' for some time till a new release coumes out again. It's a cycle. The difference is th...
