#1829426 [Guide] Dell XPS 15 L502X (Early 2011) Snow Leopard Install (possibly L702x too)

@is44c, no need to. @notmeagain, not possible without hacking the AppleHDA kext. Afaik it's pretty sensible to hacking or any other type of change, i guess you could try to play with the DSDT pin configuration and info.plist mapping, but like i said, very sensitive. To my knowledge it has only one "mod" that works with our chipset. Also, mbp8,1 8,2 or 8,3 doesn't matter anymore, the latest boot.plist from the package fixes the platform id so the miniDP port works with all versions.

Oh, i totally forgot there's the non BT chip also. As for the trackpad jumping... you mean those 5pixel jumps ? Those happen with a mouse attached as well and with my wacom tablet, i find it normal. Someone should record his screen to illustrate the jumping thing, i can only assume i'm not experiencing it... Good luck with your exam!

@maxey, i thought you meant it doesn't work at all. Anyway, if i have time this summer i'll try to get my hands on the source code for that trackpad kext and see if i can implement +1 finger support. If you still have the wifi card that came with the laptop, just plug it in the second minipcie port and you will have bluetooth, the only down side is that you can't actually disable it :D

@brockoliscomique, SSDT1, SSDT2, SSDT3 are generic i7. You can install them + the correct 2670QM SSDT.aml from the Lx02X-Lion package.

@Maxey, personally only 10.7.3 update was a failure on my system, the rest worked perfectly... If you got everything working on 10.7.2 stick with it. You won't get any extra features in the other upgrades. That link is not to be taken into consideration... like i said, its for an acer with a unlocked bios. I got the card active, now its just a matter of software. On linux, they use a virtual library to execute jobs using the Discrete GPU, bypassing the framebuffer lock. On OS X it's a bit more complicated because the drivers (QE/CI) won't load unless they find the framebuffer unlocked. Until i can figure out how to unlock the framebuffer or trick the drivers into loading... we will be stuck with Intel HD on all possible versions of OS X. @is44c, I wish i could fix the wake problem... but unless i got the laptop in front of me to test various stuff, i can't. VoodooPS2 signature must not get recognized, hence it doesn't get included/KPs... you can remove it from...

Speaking of flash.... What the hell Apple/Adobe, do you really hate yourselves that much? I'd like to remind everyone that today is WWDC 2012, where new mac hardware and Mountain Lion features will be announced. Hopes up for something to get us that damn NGPU we deserve! London It starts at: 18:00 London Time Wohoo! http://blogs.nvidia....s-geforce-gpus/ i hope by july we will have a fully working hackintosh! :)

@jkbuha, would be great, not only for the GPU related things but for what the breakthrough on laptop UEFI systems would mean. @is44c, well "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" glad its working fine. Those errors could be caused by one of the graphic related files not being replaced in the update process. Nothing major since everything is working fine.

Let's see... Adding a widget in dashboard, you will see a wave/ripple effect.. The menu bar is semi transparent You have full resolution. You can watch flash videos or movies fullscreen without them skipping frames. In Launchpad if you press the windows key on your laptop you will see another type of effect...Those errors could be caused by version mismatch between kexts. On what OS X version are you?

It's just a warning, related to the fan controller (that if your system has some similarity to the l502x). Anyway, HWSensors are pretty general, should work on most recent models. There's another reason for the HWMonitor app to not indicate anything. Individual plugins are found in FakeSMC.kext/Contents/Plugins. Notice: removing FakeSMC.kext will make your system unbootable.

is44c, on , said:Doix, I tried to install 10.7.1 multiple times but still get touchpad jumping around. Then I installed 10.6.7 and install the driver from the animal package and the touchpad is NOT jumping around. (BTW, I found on 10.6.7, I only need to install the string to the boot.plist and no need to use the HD 3000 kexts from 10.7 to get the native resolution). Then I installed that animal package PS2 kexts to 10.7.4 but still got jumping TP. Then I started to compare the boot.plist from both side and eventually found that UserKernelCache makes the difference. By removing it or set to No, I got the TP working as a mouse correctly. Any clue why this would make a difference? Meanwhile I would appreciate if you can shed some lights on the wake from sleep problem... Intel HD 3000 is natively supported in lion, if you have id 0x116 and 0x126 (which afaik are the only ids on sandy bridge cpus) *this being a hint to i7Hackintosh*. UseKernelCache=Yes means the system will use the pre...

is44c, on , said:You are right. My touchpad is Cypress. Is there a 64 bit VoodooPS2 to try? Or it is ok that I just use 32 bit version? I use patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext after upgrading to 10.7.4 and the KP is gone. Voodoo battery seems to cause KP too. I am still doing more experiments to see what caused a problem. Thanks! I don't think theres a custom driver for the Cypress trackpad... I'm pretty sure you can find a 64bit version of VoodooPS2 on osx86.net. Try other battery kexts, maybe you'll get lucky, report back if you find something to work. I'll add it in the next rev of the package. zulqar, on , said:Sorry no hard feelings, but I tried every method on this forum but the truth is every day mac become more and more unstable and after three days become useless so what I find two weeks ago that by removing SSDT.aml and don't doing repair permissions and rebuilding kextcache etc. fixes everything. @kgraphic, This thread contains ample information related to every possible bug encountered so far... there are about 3 pages related to gfx freeze and possible fixes (jkbuha posted most of them) find and read them. I don't have time anymore, as i've said.. my exam is this month and i'm studying 12h/day (its what you get for being lazy/working on other things). I'm confident you can figure it out or that someone else will help you. I'll try to help when the issue is a 5minute one that i know how to quickly fix, but on complex ones like the gfx freeze i must pass. I promise however that when i'm done with the exam, i'll implement a fix in the installer package and release/compile/develop the full free and opensource alternative to tonymac's packages.

is44c, on , said:I always got KPs before installing DSDT but I can boot with rBoot LE without any switches. After installed the DSDT, I can boot directly from HDD now. I assume Blangsak DVD didn't install NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, the KPs you got are related to AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. DSDT provides half of the patch required for your system to fully work. Considering the sleep error, i assume you didn't install from the package the patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext (AICPUPM 10.7.4) < please do so. Touchpad jumping around.. hmm, please go to System Preferences > Trackpad, do you have options there? If no, then your trackpad is actually being detected as a mouse hence the jumping bug. You can try to manually reinstall the kexts/ fix permissions if that still doesn't work i could mean your trackpad is not a Synaptic, then i guess you can try VoodooPS2. @markman, i'm not sure... but if memory serves, that error means that all your kext f...

QuoteI do not need to install DSDT yet to get graphics recognized. I asked for the Intel HD ID to confirm if you need a DSDT edit. Personally i think the 13 XPS is fundamentally different than l502 or l702 and it may require its OEM DSDT to be patched. For the intel HD Device ID go to system information > displays
