Hello,

you r getting KP from VoodooHDA obviously. There seem to be some artifacts of voodooHDA still in your system. Check E/E, S/L/E and clear caches!

I have updated on the same mobo and had no problems.
OK one has to replace SleepEnabler and I had to patch AppleHDA again.
I have added my ALC 662 kext, you can install it in E/E and than patch AppleHDA.
Works perfect. Just get rid of all other voodoo audio stuff.

Maybe you have to edit your DSDT, if there is no ALC 662 sound section, too.
I suggest you try dsdtautopatcher.
If all goes wrong, pm me. as said, I have the same mobo and all working.

Cheers

Thanks Dino! I looked around and deleted AppleHDA.kext and Legacy888bHDA.kext entirely (rather than use the older version). I expected that this would kill my sound, but surprisingly it booted up and everything worked--audio was fine, including the mic on my HP USB webcam! I didn't add ANYTHING ELSE, I only deleted those two files.

Sleep is not working, so I will have to find the correct SleepEnabler, but that's a minor issue.

Thank you again for your help.

Bump. Still looking for advice/suggestions on the above issue.

I upgraded to 10.6.5 using software update which I expected would be safe as I had upgraded to 10.6.4 in this way in the past. Unfortunately I was wrong. I'm getting a KP right after the Apple screen.

I booted verbose and noted that the KP happened when after
VoodooHDADevice[0x23a9f000]::free
panic...

Replaced AppleHDA.kext with the version from #####.

Panic again--same place as you can see:

Attached File  photo.JPG   141.96KB   18 downloads

I can boot with -x

I am not very good at debugging, can some of you experts give me an idea about how I might fix this without starting from scratch?

Thank you for any ideas!

Try other strings, like this one from blackandblue

Sigh.... black screen. But thanks for the tip. Is there a list of these somewhere? Or are you just finding them randomly around the site?
