I've noticed a few pages back someone had problems with VoodooHDA.kext not loading/not having any sound. I recently had the same problem on a clean install. Chmod and chown didn't help. So what I did to solve the problem, was after a fresh install, boot the Install Disc up again (rather than booting straight into the new install) and copied the kext over in Terminal from my the flash drive I use for the bootloader.

Here's how it looked for me:

cp -R /Volumes/Boot/Extra/Extensions/VoodooHDA.kext /Volumes/"Macintosh HD"/System/Library/Extensions/

Boot is the location/name of my flash drive.
"Macintosh HD" is the name of the hard drive with the install (kind of obvious), quoted because of the space.

You can copy the kext from any location as long as its mounted and readable.

Rob G,

I am unable to find my UUID. it's not in the information screen on the disc or partition for me. any ideas?

thanks

If you can't see it in Disk Utility Info then type the following into Terminal and look for the line that says "Volume UUID":

diskutil info /Volumes/"Your Hard Drive Name"

The Only thing that doesnt run well in 64 bit mode is transmission 1.75.

That's strange, I have been using Transmission 1.75 (9230) in 64bit mode for over an hour now and had no problems. Here's the link to the download if you haven't tried this version. http://build.transmi...trunk-mac/1601/

Did anyone try the 9600gso 768mb, will it work the with 10.5.5 or 10.5.06 update ?

I have no idea if you have found a solution but here is the EFI string that I use for my 9600 GSO 768mb (with DVI/DVI). Everything works fine and haven't come across any problems.

Rob G, thanks for the solution for the 64bit VoodooHDA, I really appreciate that!

Copy the extensions.mkext I have included to system library extensions and repair permissions.

Isn't Snow Leopards extensions.mkext now in the dir: /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/

MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE UUID ON THE BOOT.PLIST TO MATCH THE UUID OF THE DRIVE YOU HAVE SNOW LEO INSTALLED AND ALSO CHANGE THE UUID IN THE INFO.PLIST OF THE PLATFORMUUID.KEXT TO YOUR UUID OR YOU WONT BE ABLE TO BOOT.

I'm running just fine over here without the PlatformUUID.kext and the UUID flag. Though that might have something to do with having my AppleAHCIPort.kext in /S/L/E/?
