built in GPU on Optiplex 755

24 August 2014 - 01:15 PM

I have the Optiplex 755 , E6750 2.66Ghz, I have SL 10.6.8 running successfully.

I can't find out a whole lot about the GPU other than it is Intel and built in

Type:    GPU
  Bus:    Built-In
VRAM (Total):    64 MB of Shared System Memory
  Vendor:    Intel (0x8086)
  Device ID:    0x29b2
  Revision ID:    0x0002
Kernel Extension Info:    No Kext Loaded

Are there Kexts that I can load to get QE/CI on this computer or is it not possible with this system?

Is there away to get QE/CI working, ie possibly another graphics card??

thanks

Chameleon boot plist?

22 August 2014 - 11:17 PM

I used the Nawcom ModCD method, successfully, on a Optiplex 755 2.66Ghz.

I've noticed on some posts making/adding info into the boot.plist file in the Extra folder, but they mentioned making the changes to the chameleon boot.plist, which I don't have??  I do have the chameleon boot page right after the Dell startup page and before the grey Apple screen.

Am I suppose to have a chameleon boot.plist and if so what do I do to get it??  update my version of chameleon? and how?

thanks

Account Permissions

12 August 2014 - 12:40 PM

After successfully loading SL 10.6.3, I've found that I don't have permission to edit anything to do some tweeking.  I went to add some code to the boot list and found out that it won't save because I don't have permission.  I did notice that there was no account login when i started up, like on my iMac.  I've also found that I can't satrt up from the OS disc to fix the permssions.  I know I put in a password during the initial setup and I've had to put a password in while using Kext Wizard.

Is there a way to reset account permissions without using the OS disc or how do you restart from the disc.

Optiplex 740 Enhanced Hack

10 August 2014 - 12:23 AM

let me start by saying.... stupid newbie here!!!

first hack and I have to start with an AMD processor, sheesh

AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 5200 2.7Ghz

Nvidia DeForce 6150LE

3gb ram

I've gotten as far as getting LegacyEmpireEFI_V1.08 booting and getting my OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.3 to show up, but then it reboots into Windows.  Now I'm wondering if my snow leopard disc is a "retail" disc or an update, thinking retail because I have used a couple times on my iMac to reload the OS, new harddrive.  Does EmpireEFI only work with 10.6 and nothing after??  On Prasys' blog he had mentioned a v1.085 or 1.09 for AMD, but I can't find anything and his links are gone for downloads.

Is there another method that is as good or better then Empire?? and easy, since I am new to this
