Dual Booting with vista

22 June 2006 - 10:22 PM

Since vista doesn't use boot.ini, and is not compatible with either GRUB or LILO, and I don't know if it works with Acronis (which sucks anyway), it seems entering the BIOS and changing the setting of first HDD may work. I'll try and let you know, because for some reason my 5500FX PCI is repporting QE/CI, something I also need to check in on.

No QE/CI

06 June 2006 - 12:20 AM

Is there anyone here who doesn't have QE or CI, but can still run their machine fine? I want to use GIMP, office, iLife, (no graphic intesive), and maybe iwork if I can, possibly some aperature. Is there anyone here who has gotten along fine without it. I'm on an 845G brookdale, and I've come to the conclusion, it's proably not gonna happen, so until I can replace my personal PC with an Intel mac, can this be done. Is there any patch to get iWork working without QE, because that's the only one I have conflicts with. Thanks.

Cheap compatible upgrade

Ok, since I can't get what I have working, does anyone know of a setup of graphics card (AGP), and mobo for socket 478 CPUs for about $130 that I can get to have full CI/QE/OpenGL right out of the box, and the mobo to support my 2.8A Northwood support, with LAN and Sound support that will work fine. If this doesn't work, I think I may just stay with Windows.

Radeon 9200 QE/CI

30 May 2006 - 01:38 AM

I have a PCI Radeon 9200. I am now dual booting with Windows Xp. My question is this, how can I get QE/CI support on this card. I know the original mac minis had a Radeon 9200, so I know the support should be in the OS. Does anyone have the proper kexts? Also, I know it's PCI, but I've heard about tricking the OS into thinking it's AGP or some way to enable that. Can anyone provide more insight on that? At the very least, I would like to at least get out of vesa 2.0 I'm stuck at 1024x768. Thanks for all the help from this community, mactelman.

Quartz Extreme on 845G

28 May 2006 - 12:18 AM

I need these following three files:
AppleIntel830.kext
AppleIntel830GA.plugin
AppleIntel830GLDriver.bundle
And I know how to install them. Can anyone point me to these files, because I can get QE working if I can obtain them and install them. I'm assuming these aren't problematic either, correct, as in they work fully, because I read online this is how to get it working on this chipset. Thanks.
