In Topic: HP Compaq NX7400 both cores working!

15 April 2009 - 12:25 PM

F&%#ing amazing!

I was very skeptical about this method, but: turned on my nx7300 (t7200 c2d cpu) Leopard 10.5.6 and followed the instructions --> it worked!!!

thanks!

btw: still to be resolved: iwi3945 and no mic/headphones on ad1981hd.

[EDIT]
Correction: it worked a couple of times and now even this doesn't work. so back to the drawing board
Correction (2): the method works, except that on my computer it doesn't necessarily hand before the battery dies and there are some hangs (freezes) from which the computer doesn't recover. maybe someone with more knowledge should take a look into why this is. it seems very curious that something as simple as this makes the system stable.

Correction (3): it works sporadically. sometimes it hangs and I can continue once I connect the power cord. sometimes it doesn't. sometimes I end up rebooting a few times before it hangs the proper way...

I resolved my problem :)

I just mount my setup with disk utilities and installation work perfectly !!

I had the same problem, and I couldn't understand what exactly you did, but I have found another solution:

I copied iPhoto.app to my applications folder (from an old copy I had) and then it installed fine.

My specs: nx7300, iAtkos 2.0 (10.5.2)

In Topic: "The speech synthesizer of this operating system is defective."

another solution:
Go to /System/Library/Speech/Voices
Copy Vicki.SpeechVoice (you will see a new file named Vicki.SpeechVoice 2)
Open Terminal
Type:

Sudo -s
 cd /System/Library/Speech/Voices
mv -f Vicki.SpeechVoice\ 2 Alex.SpeechVoice
 chown -R root:wheel Alex.SpeechVoice
 chmod -R 755 Alex.SpeechVoice

and that's it.

After doing this I was able to install Temperature monitor.

In Topic: Help with HP NX7300

I have a HP NX7300
...

I have the same comp. and didn't have that problem. it seems to me your install disk is wrong. try downloading again.
after you do install, bare in mind that:
1. there's no solution yet to using the Wifi (intel 3945abg)
2. you'll need to find and install a patch that enables the speakers (but not headphones or mic, and the volume seems lower too)
3. it over heats. 60C is the temp I get most of the time.
4. there's no solution to using both cores.

I would also ask you to never post a question like this again! it makes searching the forums very hard. try looking for any solutions regarding the dual core issue, and you end up with tons of questions like this one and 0 solutions. all that I've written here is available in the forums, but it gets harder to find the more posts like your are posted.

hope this was helpful in some way, good luck searching the forums.
