I just saw today that Niresh released Mountain Lion (10.8.2) for AMD so I thought I'd try it. I have tried installing it in the past but I've simply accepted I can't run it, but now seeing the AMD tag gave me some hope.
So upon launching the installer with the recommended command for AMD kernel, I am stuck on 'still waiting for root device'
I have used the commands that he provided in the guide "debug=8 ahcidisk=1" and had the same result.
I have the following hardware:
MB: MSI G45-770
AMD Phenom II x4 925
Asus gtx 460
2x2GB DDR3
I'm trying to install it from a DVD
So I did the following:
- Enabled AHCI mode
- Disabled AMD Cool n Quiet
- another power option, something with ACPI if I remember it right.. set on S3
other things worth mentioning:
I have removed 2gb ram, leaving only one RAM piece
My Dvd drive is on IDE alone and set on master
I have only 1 HDD on SATA
I removed all the USB's and used keyboard and mouse on PS2's
I've seen in other places to use -V cpus=1 busratio=20 but this didn't solve anything either
Anything else I can try? Or is it that my Hardware combination won't be able to run this at all?
I would be willing to try OS X Lion, but I don't think I'd want to go with something older than that
