Can you remove the VoodooHDA.kext from /System/Library/Extensions?
Reboot, and see if you can open the sound preferences. Sound will not work, but that is not what it's about.
From what i have read, this panic occurs due to an faulty driver, or due to faulty RAM.

I removed VoodooHDA.kext and can open the sound preferences with no problem now.

Which method did you use to get audio working?
Frankly, I've had more issues with EVERY one of the dozens of Windows installs I've ever done.

You are using Leopard. Leopard is damn old. I am unsure if most audio kexts released since 2010 would work with it due to its age.
You may want to use SL instead. Greater compatibility options there.

I'll look into making the change. I was hoping to go Lion or even ML, but it's looking like the mainstream distros for them only support Intel CPUs and I'm afraid the patches required to get either one working on my old ass hardware may more than I'm willing to take on at this stage.
Can you recomment a good AMD distro for SL? Or is there a way to just upgrade from the version of Leopard I'm running?
