In Topic: Kernel Panic after upgrading to 10.6.8

09 March 2013 - 01:17 AM

Hi elthomas195

Troy here mate :)

first off backup /System/Library/Extensions/VoodooHDA.kext and /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

secondly - remove /System/Library.Extensions/AppleHDA.kext (type: rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext)

thirdly - reboot (hopefully that should fix the problem)

fourthly if you have HDAenabler installed in /System/Library/Extensions then back it up and then remove it from /System/Library/Extensions
(only if after doing steps 1 to 3 don't solve the problem)

Cheers

Troy

just a quick note - the Kiwi is a flightless bird - so it must have carried the email in its beak after being loaded on a ship for the journey to the US :)

In Topic: Beachball when using disk utility several minutes after startup

29 December 2012 - 12:23 PM

my system was recently slow all of a sudden at doing anything (opening up disk utility, or any other applications), at first I thought the worst and thought oh no dying hard drive - but after resorting to unplugging everything and just double checking all of my connections internally I found that my SATA hdd cable had worked its way partially loose - unplugged it and replugged it in and now everything runs as fast and smoothly as it did before - its something to try for you at least :)

Kind regards

Troy :)

In Topic: New Install, need help getting 8500GT working

07 December 2012 - 01:26 PM

Hi

I don't know if this is much help to you or not - but I had similar trouble upgrading to Mountain Lion (from Lion) on one of my hackintoshes - I ended up replacing my 8400 GS with a GT240 and it now boots fine to the mac desktop (seems like my 8400 GS isn't supported in mountain lion but is / was in lion and below)

Kind Regards

Troy :)

In Topic: Is Hackintosh scene nearing its end , judging from the new MBP?

Yeah - then once you're done - buy yourself a 32 Gb flash drive (or 3 in my case) - install snow leopard or lion or mountain lion legitimately each on the 3 flash drives (i have 1 for S/L,1 for Lion and now 1 for M/L including all of my other purchased mac software (and yes I do purcahse all of my mac software legally - being a qualified computer programmer myself I'd feel guilty if i didn't)  - Then you have your own personal bootable backup image for restore anytime your computer does manage to crash because of an update issue. (takes just on 1 hour to restore or thereabouts) no mess no fuss :)
