Update from ML 10.8.2?

12 September 2013 - 11:26 PM

I have ML 10.8.2 running well on my Dell Inspiron 580, and before I change anything I'm wondering if anyone has had any issues upgrading 10.8.2 to 10.8.5 via the AppStore?

Questions about smbios/boot.plist

01 February 2013 - 06:12 AM

I have a smoothly running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 setup which was a vanilla install. I installed Chameleon as the bootloader.

1) The boot.plist that was installed was com.apple.Boot.plist and I never changed it. Like I stated, the computer runs very smooth, and fast, and I've not had any startup issues and few other issues - even had QE/CI on first boot. Should I change to a chameleon.boot.plist (since I'm using Chameleon)? I'm kinda thinking "if it works, don't fix it", but am I asking for trouble?

2) My smbios.plist calls my installation an iMac (the string is iMac11,1). I read a post that recommended changing it to "Mac Pro" - should I do that (I've already updated through the App Store)?

Hackintosh+Delta 1010 - control panel available?

01 February 2013 - 05:36 AM

I was having some issues with my Snow Leopard install but I've worked out most of them, and now I have a fully working Delta 1010 unit with all of its ins/outs usable in Logic. So I'm pretty happy about this, but I notice that the Envy24 drivers do not have a control panel. It doesn't seem to be a big deal - I can change the buffer settings in Logic - but I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a hacked control panel for Envy24?

I notice that System Preferences/Sound just has an Envy24 item but the system sounds use outputs 1 & 2, so I'm thinking that there would need to be some sort of control panel/configuration if a user needed to change the outputs that the system sounds go to. Is there something out there like that?

[SOLVED] OS X PCI support

I know that recent Apple computers do not have PCI slots - Apple went to PCIe years ago. But what is the last OS X version to support PCI?

DSDT for Dell 580

28 January 2013 - 02:20 AM

I have Mountain Lion installed on a Dell Inspiron 580 with a Dell 33FF6 motherboard running an i5 650. I can use the DSDT Editor to extract the DSDT in Windows, but I've been unable to find a patch for this motherboard. Do I even need a patch? Can I use the extracted DSDT alone? Or should/can I (or someone else) create a patch for this mobo?
