#2491916 Dell Inspiron 3542 enable graphics

Posted by WaldMeister on 09 September 2017 - 11:36 AM

Hi, Regarding the graphics it might be you need to patch a few kexts, the graphic distortion is related to the OS not recognizing the device id and memory correctly. Information about what to patch and how can be found in my topics in the signature, the Toshiba had a HD4600, this comes close to your model, but you need to research a little yourself to have it corrected for the hd4400.  The patch i used in the past for the hd4600 to work: #!/bin/bash#Definitionsp5000=/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelHD5000Graphics.kext/Contents/Info.plistb5000=/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelHD5000Graphics.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelHD5000Graphicspazul=/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext/Contents/Info.plistbazul=/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelFramebufferAzulif [ $(id -u) != 0 ]; then echo "You need to run this script as root. Type sudo -s, enter password and run this script again."exit fi...

The EmuVariableUefi-64.efi should either be removed or installed. Depends on if it is present or not.Bashing on RehabMan, not knowing what you're talking about, is not ok imo.

Hi and welcome. The Intel wireless will not work, period. If possible, replace the card or buy an USB dongle. You should start with a generic installation, if any error occurs you have found the right community to support you. The guides section can be found here: http://www.insanelym...the-genius-bar/ Perhaps there is already an installation guide for your system, you can search for it here: http://www.insanelym...e&module=search

#2240460 Mate Ubuntu 16.04 LTS responsive and no hang for weeks...

Posted by WaldMeister on 26 May 2016 - 05:13 PM

LexHimself Yes, I like Arch and its reactivity. I tried Chakra linux, and it's good.Only one problem...If you leave and don't boot you pc for one month, if you update it you have to format! :hysterical:I can't be a slave of pc, updating it everyday! :DThis is nonsense. If you have time to browse, you can give in your password to update daily :x Even after a month of not updating, you should be able to update. If any error occurs, it can be fixed. Arch is not for the mainstream user. Never heard of Chakra, got a spare laptop and will definitly check it out. I want try use Ubuntu-minimal. Some guys said that's very good.I think it's called Lubuntu.

I suggest you to install Debian from minimal ISO and install Mate (or DE you prefer) while installing.Much faster and light than every ubuntu. And rolling, no more re-installI started out with Debian :) Rock solid OS. But the i found Arch Linux, which suits my needs more.

#2236358 Is there a reason to use device ID over device label?

Posted by WaldMeister on 06 May 2016 - 01:10 AM

Indeed, just what is easier for you.  I must note, for example Lable PIC is DSDT(hardware) specific, where HID is not. Went a bit retard on my previous post.

Hi, Both your examples are equal. "Search for xxx and xxx"  The difference is, one searches for the name of a device, the other for the device id. I would not search by device, but by code tbh.

#2232055 DSDT patching - a DSDT patching noob needs advice

Posted by WaldMeister on 13 April 2016 - 04:23 PM

Hi, So your mainboard and cpu will be replaced? When loading Clover, pres F4, this will extract all your ACPI tables to /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/ORIGINAL. I do not recommend booting from the old DSDT, but if it works... From there you can patch the new DSDT and replace it eventually.

#2186853 OS X 10.11 question about rootless=0

Posted by WaldMeister on 09 November 2015 - 03:50 AM

Hi, These boot flags are obsolete. I use clover myself, and you need to set CSRActiveConfig to a value when kexts need to be loaded/injected.  <key>RtVariables</key> <dict> <key>CsrActiveConfig</key> <string>0x67</string> <key>ROM</key> <string>UseMacAddr1</string> </dict>0x67 Disables al protection. To just enable unsigned kext loading, 0x03 will be enough (same as kext-dev-mode=1)
