Kernel Panic when inserting USB flash drive (after 10.7.5 update)

04 November 2012 - 03:35 AM

I managed to install 10.7.5 combo update on my computer running iATKOS L2 OS X Lion 10.7.2.
The installation went fine without any problem. After install finished, I ran this script:
http://www.souldevte...n-a-hackintosh/
I was able to successfully boot into 10.7.5 system.
However, one problem has been making me annoying--when I plug in a flash drive, or probably anything USB, my computer immediately throws a kernel panic.
What could be the reason? This was not a problem before I ran the update.

Want to Change Mac Model in System Profiler

03 November 2012 - 06:49 AM

Successfully installed iATKOS L2 OS X Lion 10.7.2 on my computer. So far, it has been working fine.
When I open Apple menu > About This Mac > Additional Info, my computer appears as Mac Pro.
Yes, there's nothing wrong with it. But I would like to see iMac instead of Mac Pro, as my computer is an all-in-one machine.
As of what I know, I am supposed to edit SMBIOS plist to do that. Is it correct?
If so, what iMac model is appropriate to my machine? Or should I just leave it as-is(Mac Pro)?

Here are the full specs:
Processor: Intel P6200 @ 2.13GHz
Chipset: Intel HM57
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics (Arrandale)
Sound: Realtek HD Audio (ALC272)
LAN: Realtek RTL8168/8111
WLAN: Atheros AR9285

Kexts Needed: Intel HD Graphics / GMA 5700 (from MBP 2011)

30 October 2012 - 11:52 AM

I have been following this tutorial:
http://www.insanelym...phics-gma-5700/
to get QE/CI working on Intel HD Graphics (GMA 5700; Arrandale) but could not proceed since the link to Intel HD Graphics kexts (from MBP Early 2011) seems to be expired.
I tried the kexts from 10.6.7 update but that gave me KP. Does anyone have, or know where to get the files?

I could not post within the topic since it is locked.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

iATKOS S3 v2: Failed to update 10.6.7 with KP

29 October 2012 - 09:11 AM

I tried to update my machine from 10.6.3 to 10.6.7 by downloading the combo package from Apple website and then running it.
However, I found out my computer hangs during the progress and shows kernel panic for unknown reason.
The computer obviously does not boot after this. I was forced to re-install Snow Leopard (I use iATKOS S3) over again.
There was no SleepEnabler.kext in both /Extra/Extensions and /System/Library/Extensions which others from the web told to remove in order to avoid KP.
I also tried installing 10.7.0 Legacy Kernel before running the combo installer but the result was the same.
What could be the reason in this case? I have no idea since the KP does not give any useful information...

Here is my configuration:
Manufacturer: DELL
Model: Vostro 330 AIO
CPU: Intel P6200 @ 2.13GHz
Chipset: Intel HM57
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics (Arrandale) - PCI
Sound: Realtek HD Audio (ALC272)
LAN: Realtek RTL8168/8111
WLAN: Atheros AR9285
RAM: 2GB DDR3

Thanks!

Edit:
the installer says "Registering updated components" when the computer gives KP.
