black screen in iAtkos L2 with virtualbox on AMD system

19 September 2012 - 04:27 PM

Hi,

I'm receiving a black screen with iAtkos when trying to install Lion (iAtkos L2).  My system is running Ubuntu 11.04 Server, and I'm trying to install it in VirtualBox 4.2.0.  My hardware setup is as follows:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor
Ram: 16GB
HDD: Raid1 setup to mirror two 2tb drives
Graphics: EVGA 512-P3-1300-LR GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 32-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card

When iAtkos boots, I press F8.  If I do a regular boot, I get a grey screen with an apple logo.  If I try verbose (and with all other flags I found googling this topic), I get a black screen.  My hunch on where the problems may lie:

- AMD cpu: not so much likely, as I've seen others with successes
- Graphics card
- Raid1 setup for the hard drives

This isn't just an iAtkos or a Lion issue.  I have snow leopard installed via virtualbox on my ubuntu laptop as well.  When I transfered the VDI file (hard disk file) over to my server, I also get a grey screen with apple logo when the VM boots.  When I transferred my WinXP VM over, I am able to boot it and use it fine on my server.

Please let me know if you know what the problem is.  Thanks!
