yes it was a combo update first to 10.6.7 then to 10.6.8 and each time I had to delete AppleHPET.kext because it disabled my USB ports and mouse. and another thing to note after the 10.6.7 update my PS/2 mouse stopped working but my PS/2 Keybord worked fine.
another thing to note deleteing AppleHPET.kext fixed my USB issues and my Network card when I was running 10.6.3
I don't know what patched kernels to get because I don't know anything about macs

You might have a bad version of iAtkos S3 v2. Two seem to be floating around one with Qoopz kernels and one with out the Qoopz kernels . I had the same issue as you with my PC rebooting over and over. Check to see if your Disktro has the Qoopz kernels and if it don't look for the other version of iAtkos
You should find the Qoopz kernels in Patches>Modifided kernels durring your custimise install. if you don't you have a bad disktro.

I have a similar system dc7700 and the apple PS/2 worked for me and not the Voodoo PS/2 if that helps anyone.
