9A410 Patching, Part Deux

12 May 2007 - 12:40 AM

For those still interested in obtaining the DVD patcher for 9A410, I would suggest a search at pastebin.ca using the build number.

Once again, the patcher should work on most modern SSE3-supporting systems, with HPET support (there are rudimentary patches for no-NX and no-VMX); the kernel is proof of concept and should be treated as such. After installation from the patched DVD, it is necessary to manually add a replacement kernel and extensions onto the target partition. This can be done from a terminal launched within the installer using the following commands:

* cp /mach_kernel /Volumes/target/mach_kernel
* rsync -av /System/Library/Extensions/ /Volumes/target/System/Library/Extensions/
* rm /Volumes/target/System/Library/Extensions.mkext
* chown -R root:wheel /Volumes/target/System/Library/Extensions
* chmod -R 755 /Volumes/target/System/Library/Extensions
