#1901150 [GUIDE] Edit AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext to unleash nvidia's GTX 57...

Posted mrengles on 26 March 2013 - 05:49 PM

dannymichel, on , said:you mean i dont have to make any other edits other than changing a device id somewhere in the file? how do i find my device id? Correct, until we know more about Apple's Kepler AGPM Syntax. The only thing I know for sure Kepler cards use and ID of 4, while FERMI cards use 0. You can find your NVidia GPU's Device ID in System Information. Goto Apple Menu > About this Mac (while holding the option key) > System Information... To find the Device ID to edit in the Info.plist you can check this link out: https://developer.nv...e_ids_jan13.txt Good luck! Mrengles

#1893346 [PMPatch] UEFI patching utility

CodeRush, on , said:...I need testers with different boards from different vendors to make the utility better, so if you have enough courage or a spare BIOS chip - please try it and report in this topic... @CodeRush I've also used your tool to unlock/patch my ASRock Z77 Professional-M motherboards UEFI v1.90 without a single problem. It works great! Thanks for all of your hard work. Do you know if any other beneficial features can be added to this ASRock motherboards UEFI? Gratitude, Mrengles

Tony, I can't sell you on the GPU, if you want to spend the money? go for it. But why spend $450.0 USD to have a nice boot screen with Clover? I already had the card so its was worth the time to update to UEFI GOP, I would not pay money for it. Your call. -Mrengles

Here's the video of Clover booting 100% UEFI motherboard, and Nvidia 670 w/ UEFI vBios. Notice that I no longer have a "BIOS" post/splash screen, because I'm using the Ultra Fast Boot option on my motherboard for Windows 8, But I'm booting Clover/OSX not Microsofts heap of $h!t. =) -Mrengles

I posted this on another Clover Thread and above (SORRY), but I just want to let everyone know. That by updating my EVGA GTX 670 to the new UEFI vBios, my display now shows full screen @ 1920x1080 without any black edges when booting Clover or at the main menu. I can also use the Windows 8 Ultra Fast boot now with Clover and OSX. My Boots times are SICK!!! Super fast. 4-5 seconds max! I know i've already posted this, but I wanted to add that all of this was without the need for CsmVideoDxe-64.efi Check for a UEFI update for your GPU, It makes such a difference when using Clover. The only downside "not for me" once you update you wont be able to use the card with a legacy Bios motherboard. Legacy's dead anyhow. :wink2: Good Luck everyone! Mrengles PS. I'll try to post a video of the entire boot. It will be a very short video. :thumbsup_anim:

The only reason I hackintosh because I love messing around with OS X, before this Mac OS 7-9.2. I've never owned a PC until now. I've always owned a Mac, still do. I didn't build a hackintosh for a cheap alternative. As a matter of fact I could have purchased a Mac for much cheaper then my Hackintosh hardware and visa versa. I think the spirit of Hackintosh, is just like Jobs & Woz blue box "Rebel attitude". Apple could try to stop us... They haven't yet. I don't think we will ever see the day when Apple allows this, unless lawyers get involved, and I don't think they will ever really try to stop it. Unless they move away from Steve Jobs vision for Apple. Just my two cents.

I find it curious that I'd need a patched DSDT for UEFI booting and not boot0. Seems like a driver dilemma, but the aptiofix d...

afd_sg, on , said:@ schiecidk Great job I understand better now regarding the permissions issues. But what I do not understand, why when I copy the InstallESD file on a real mac I do not have to do that. I am not sure why during the second part of the OSX install my drive icons are seen as external devices (orange icons) but changes after I add the amended kexts, but I think this fix ex the beast man is cosmetic. I also have had best results with the HD4000 graphics and actually removed the 6870 card and frankly not being a gamer I find the text is clearer with the HD4000, so no prob with the graphics, and I use that Disabler.kext to allow me to use a MacPro5,1 profile. Thanks for your hard work here... Brgds/Tony I dont understand why you want to use the MacPro5,1 profile if its just for looks in About This Mac.You can achieve the same look as MacPro5,1 with P-C State performance of the MacPro3,1 profile without the need for any extra kexts or deleting kexts by using MacPro...

shiecldk, on , said:How can I reset PRAM/NVRAM in Clover? You will need to type these two commands in Terminal to clear the NVRAM. Then restart your computer (Mac), keep in mind you will also need to redo some of your your settings in System Preferences after the restart, like your computer name, re-enable Find My Mac, and a good idea to look at the Guest account options to make sure they have not changed. sudo rm /nvram.plist sudo nvram -c If you want to see the contents of your NVRAM you can use this command on a real Mac or a Hackintosh with Clover. nvram -p Good Luck hope this helps! -Mrengles PS. This would probably be a good thing to add to the Q & A post. :wink2:

Can someone help me make a stock mountain lion usb installer? Every time I restore the Installer ESD.dmg to a USB flash drive and try to boot the disk using Clover UEFI I get stuck at a whitish gray screen with a spinning beach ball. I've read the Install OS X in /EFI/doc but its not very clear. And remover the kernalcache like the guide days does nothing to fix the problem. My goal is to make a Stock ML installer that creates the recovery partition from the first install. If I can get it working.. I'll be sure to type up a nice guid for us Clover users. Any ideas? The white screen is not from my GPU I've tried both gtx670 and hd4000. Thanks -mrengles

cyf, on , said: In general, on a Hackintosh, we should NOT be accepting any Mac OS updates or "upgrades" because it will generally break your installation because we have specialized kexts--unless your hardware is "100%" compatible. I speak from experience, unfortunately. Even though the statement seems obvious now, I did the recent update for 10.8.2, and paid dearly for it. Haha, even "real Apple" owners have problems. The only Kext I have are FakeSMC.kext thanks to Clover. :)
