#1894953 Budget motherboard (mATX) for ML

Posted Mr.D. on 08 March 2013 - 12:58 AM

I wish that I could give you some personal experience about either of those boards, but I have an ASRock z77 Extreme-4m - and I also use ML in a VirtualMachine, not native. With regards to a list of what works and what doesn't with ML and specific boards, a great place to start would be the wiki. A lot of people update that site daily with what they have gotten working, and what still causes problems, and what doesn't work at all.

Nice Post! just kidding... was there earlier talk of doing something a bit more radical with the PSU, like putting it into an optical drive shell? I think your PSU is a bit too big for that, but I like the outside of the box (or maybe just inside a different box) thinking.

I think that is a good choice with the color... there was always going to be a 'hole' there, the only question is do you accentuate it or minimize it. I like it... ...and by hole I mean a hole in the uniformity of the mesh.

#1894318 How do you say the "X" in OS X?

Posted Mr.D. on 05 March 2013 - 06:17 PM

QuoteAlessandro17, on V March MMXIII - V:XLVII AM, said Virtually no Italian would ever read a X as a ten. now THAT is ironic! ... and yes I converted your timestamp into Roman Numerals

#1894224 Welcome to the [How-To]s!

Posted Mr.D. on 05 March 2013 - 12:22 PM

In an effort to clean and organize the Mods and Overclocking sub-forum up a little bit, this sub-forum has been created. The idea is that I would like to sift thru the posts below, find some examples of nearly or all-the-way completed [How-To]s and then pin them. This would put them at the top of the Mods and Overclocking forum, in theory getting the most reads. The idea then would be to have the original author make any final tweaks or additions that should be made to the original post, and after a period of 'final commenting', the [How-To]/[Tutorial] would be promoted to this HOW-TO sub-forum. The catch being that these tutorials would be locked - no edits or comments allowed. If there were changes that needed to be made, they could be discussed openly in the sub-forum, and if the changes were appropriate, the original poster could then make the necessary edits. A few thoughts about the threads that would make the cut in this promotion process:Must be easily read and eas...

looks like a pretty sweet rig that you'll have! While I am sad to see the G5 being used only for cooling - I am happy to see the G5 being used for something other than landfill space! Keep up the pictures and the updates!

nickjf20 said:It's really nice to see this forum coming back alive with some great active input. I agree, and the posters in this thread are some of those reasons. I want to thank you all for your contributions. I do need to also remind everyone about the Why InsanelyMac does not support tonymacx86 thread in the Forum Information forum. I know that there is some great information over there - both WTT and myself used to be active over there. But we have both switched to over here. While we may not always agree with every rule and guideline that is posted here, InsanelyMac is far more leinant, understanding, and forgiving than 'he who shall not be named', and that, to me, is worth the added time of making this forum better. My suggestion in this area is to try to get the OP to either re-post his work here, or on another site that we can link to. I can be that go-between if need be. If anybody has specific questions about how this affects this subforum or posts made in...
