Lost BIOS in Acer Aspire 5750G

11 September 2012 - 10:41 PM

Hi, first of all here are my specs:

Acer Aspire 5750G
Intel Core i7 2630QM
4GB DDR3 RAM
nVidia GeForce GT 540M Optimus
Intel HD 3000 Integrated Graphics
640GB HDD

I was mucking around with the BIOS and managed to disable the nVidia card and allocate no VRAM to the Intel HD Graphics hence turning off both graphics cards... :(

So now my laptop does not show any screen, I have tried restoring the BIOS with a USB and FN + ESC but that did not work.
As I have been trying to re-install the BIOS I think I may now have a corrupt one.

I am now looking at shorting the CMOS Jumper but not sure how and if this will work?!
I have found diffrent threads online saying to do this with a screwdriver and others not to use one.

I'm wondering what other peoples view is on this, as currently I have no system!!!

Thank you

I guess this is for mainly laptops, what gestures has everyone got working?

I got most working apart from side swipe/mission control swipe, want to get this working!

How do I get GT 540M with mountain lion?

02 August 2012 - 08:29 PM

Hi, I have Nvidia Optimus with Intel HD Graphics 3000 + Nvidia GeForce GT 540M.
I have installed mountain lion fine, but only when I disable the switchable graphics therefore only having the Integrated card enabled.
When I try to boot with the Nvidia card enabled in the BIOS my laptop just stops on boot with this

"nspace-handler-set-snapshot-time:1343775763".

In Lion I wasn't able to get it enabled but I could at least boot with it enabled in the BIOS. Some people have said I need to make sure the Nvidia kexts have the right device ID but I don't know anything about that (and can't find anything related - only this

Thanks.

No KP just stuck..

when booting in -v I get this and it doesn't load any further...

"nspace-handler-set-snapshot-time:1343775763"

Why is this?

thanks.
