Dell Inspiron 1501

AMD Turion 64x2 Mobile 1,9 Ghz

1,87GB RAM 149GB HD

Sigmatel 9200 ATI Radeon 1150 Xpress

What you need

Make sure your Dell partitions are effectively hidden

Kalyway 10.5.2 AMD/Intel DVD

Gparted live CD

Your Dell CDS if you screw up

1) shrink the XP Pro partition to make room to OSX

then diskpart

select disk 0

create partition primary id=af

list partition (note the one you just created)

select partition X

active

exit

Reboot

Insert Gparted Live Cd (chosse autoconfig at boot prompt)

with the Gparted utility change the boot flag from the windows partition to

the new OSX partition save and exit.

Reboot with Kalyway dvd inside laptop. at boot prompt press F12 to display

boot menu. Then select the dvd boot in the list.

The boot will be like hung for sometime don't panic that's the way it is. go to your kitchen make yourself a mango lassi.

At Leopard boot screen goto Utilities/ Disk Utility

-Erase your new OSX partition (write zero to disk) HFS+ Journaledthe next to validate licence and to go to install screen

-Click Customize and deselect all graphics. In Patches for AMD choose the

first and the 3rd ones, select also the Bundle for powermanagement. Then select accordingly to your configuration,

then click Install. you can Skip the dvd verification before going to make

you a mango lassi (lol).

at the end of install reboot witout dvd and again it will be like dead for

sometime with nothing apparently running before it shows the desktop user

registration interface of Leopard (another mango lassi?)

It's time now to go for display and sound patches. OSX doesn't initially offer

Widescreen Resolutions for ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 so you need to download and

install (guide is included, follow the walkthrough exactly) Callisto Build 003(fixed), May 27 2006 (Build 008, June 13 2006 will not work so don't even try!)

Sound doesn't work initially either (Sigmatel 9200 Hi-Def) so you need to download

AppleHDA Patcher and use this Sigmatel9200.txt codec dump file (save it to your

desktop and then drag it onto the AppleHDA Patcher Icon)

Reboot, set your display resolution to the correct settings (I used 1280x800)

in System Preferences, and your Mac OSX system is good to go!

The sound I have is crappy.... but at least ...I have some hey !!

To install dual boot, you just need once your osx is running and booting fine

to run the Gparted live cd again to change the boot partition flag back to windows XP

copy CHAIN0 file to c:/ and add this into Boot.ini file c:\chain0="Mac OSX"

Reboot and now you have XP + OSX running fine + you STILL HAVE YOU DELL PARTITIONS UNTOUCHED enjoy !!!

Am I supposed to always run Leopard in safe mode (-x) because it seems to be the only way to get it too boot quickly into it, but I get no wireless in safe mode.

edit: I get it to boot after rd=disk0s1 -F but I need to move my mouse around during the loading, is there a way to get around this?

The 10.5.4 Update is ONLY FOR INTEL. If you try to install it on AMD, it will NOT work.

You'll have to format, reinstall. That is the only way guaranteed to work.

And are your USB Ports working?

Well, sounds like I dont get to drop the kalyway disk in and just let it go, everythings always gotta be more complicated than that haha.

When you say

What do you mean?

how do you hide partitions?

I have never heard of the gparted utility before, is it only used to change which OS the bios boots to?

And, out of curiosity, why do you erase the new os x parition and deselect the graphics?

Sorry if these are n00bish questions.

When I install Zephiroth's Leopard for AMD 10.5.2 EFI I get to install it then the computer restarts, then I don't know what to do, it loads nothing and in order to boot again to windows I need to fix it or reformat. My QUESTION is what do I do after the reboot when finished installing OS X. Is it also the same procedures in installing Kalyway and Zephiroth?

I did the install on my wife's laptop without many hitches. When I boot up her laptop it says errors encountered during startup up pausing 5 seconds... then it loads after like 5 minutes. Her laptop doesn't sleep correctly, moreover it will not return to normal after it has slept. Lastly her iTunes suffers from VERY scratchy audio. Anyone have any solutions to my problems?

HELP please!

I'm running an AMD pc with windows XP.

I was going through the steps listed to create a new partition. I made the partition and set it as active. I created the GParted Live CD and restarted the computer. GParted Live gets an error whenever I try to run it. If I boot without the CD, I just get "error loading operating system".
