they would realize that this OS x86 is a good thing. Why? Because after trying this, many folks went out and bought Macintosh computers. Now if they were smart, they would encourage this, so that way people would fall in love with their stuff :)

agree for some.....but shouldn't be all cases...:P

but through case like this...

ya....definitely you can get more people attracted to MacOS....

by that way...pulling people to jump over to Mac

but of course, i mean the home user....

(entertainment wise....its perfect....but work....seems not a good competitor against microsoft yet)

all Steve need to do now...is try to move down the sale price of mac

probably by licensing the manufacturing to mass produce...

i believe if a same spec mac with a pc selling less than $100 gap

more people will turn to it...

I agree. This place is like computer geek NASCAR. For many years the Auto industry has known that the first people they need to impress is the car racers and racecar hobbiest, then they in turn generate an avalanche of word-of-mouth adverising that all the experts agree is much more valuable than the lame advertizing they waste all the big bucks on. The guys that would take a perfectly good car apart and port heads or invent a deburg filter and stuff like are considered by the auto industrie to be their best friend. IMO the people here who are pushing the limits on OS's are the computer industries friend, hopefully they will recognize that, maybe they already do but are not saying, I don't know..

Actually, they DO realize spreading is a good thing.

I would've been very easy to lock down cracking/hacking the OS, by signing kernel and kexts. Any tamper would've render the system unbootable. Because we need modified mach_kernel from maxxuss each time, the could've been signing just that file, check in the early boot process for signature and stop the boot with "Invalid signature blah blah".

For security and MUCH harder cracking process, they could extend this to more parts of the system, not just few files.

Anyhow, I've bought myself a G4 iBook and I'll go for MBP in a couple of months, just waiting rev B
