luh3417
Very nice. And then we install OSXBMC for a nice little media center. Not entirely sure it has the chops for 1080p h.264 but can always get the barebones and use a fatter CPU. Is 45nm CPU too much to ask, maybe http://www.legitreviews.com/article/690/1/ Does 945GC support 45nm CPU... in Q208 the e7200... and just to be greedy how does this system overclock? http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.2 seems promising regarding GMA950. Synaesthesia
Great little PC....nice that it has a PCI slot for a Broadcom 4318 wireless card...I don't like using a USB wireless. It would be great you could slap a DVD drive in that. It has the IDE connector, just no space for a 5.25" Drive. Guess one would have to use a USB Optical drive... Also Front USB would be nice. The front panel only has a on/off switch and power/HDD LED's. But still, it's great value at $199...
vbetts
I would have atleast went with the Celeron DC...
Synaesthesia
You can put in any of the new Core-architecture Cpu's, Celeron, Pentium Dual-Core (E2xxx), and Core 2 Duo E4xxx and E6x00 series.
xAberracus
The price is 99 US$ dollars not 199... and one beautiful thing missing is an optical audio out.
vbetts
The price is 99 US$ dollars not 199... and one beautiful thing missing is an optical audio out. The Celeron DC is dirt cheap, only $59. Putting it in wouldn't raise the price of $99 to $199. But the cpu, including the optical audio out, the price is 99 US$ dollars, and not 199. macgirl
video works suposedly with glitches g950, anyone have tried 10.5.2 with gma 950? this looks better by the moments... GMA950 with 10.5.2 system with 10.5.1 graphics kexts works (yeah very few glitches) GMA950 with 10.5.2 system with Leopard Graaphics Update (AKA 10.5.2 graphics kexts) also work but had kernel panics running OGL and Screen Sharing. luh3417
Shuttle sells 2 versions: bare bones for $99 and complete system for $199 (or a bit more). I think with bare bones you have to add your own CPU, RAM, HDD. But this can be an advantage, many of us have some old parts laying around. Only downside is no room for internal DVD. Shuttle does make other cases with more expandability, but they are also more expensive. The tomshardware review in the OP states "Shuttle has created the KPC around an Intel based 945GC motherboard with a Celeron 430 CPU clocking in at 1.8 GHz. Upgrading the CPU is certainly a viable option, as this board supports most Core 2 single and dual core CPUs, from Celerons to the newest E8000 series using a 1333 MHz bus." I'd want to confirm if the e7000 e8000 and q9000 work, maybe need a newer BIOS at least. Has anyone got one of these running? How bad are the GMA950 glitches? How does osxbmc work out? DP User
Nifty little rig. Would suffice as a nice Mini replacement for the kids.... Perhaps they each can have their own mini now.

Celeron E series is conroe, conroe is core 2 duo, and board that supports the Celeron E series supports any core 2 duo, and newer ones with a bios update. Slip
The Price is right. From what i read the ps is only 100W . So any mods might need consideration. Too bad only one pci. No AGP Have a geo5200 pci card . If its any better than the 950 onboard @ 1920x1200. Shuttle XPC SD30G2B Barebones Mini PC Black LGA775 945GC PCI-E16 1PCI Video Sound GBLAN 1394 250W @ $202Having said that .
