bigosx86noob
i have been thinking of getting a iphone for a while now and i have a few questions: is the iphone worth it? other then the internet browser what else is good about it? i know with the SDK out and the third party aps coming soon there will be tons of new features but is it worth it even then? should i wait to see if the 3g iphone comes out within the next few months? also is there any PC stuff with iphone? because i have been working on getting leopard running but i will try harder if its only on mac. any answers or input about if i should get one would be great! thanks all! JSn1™
I think that basically the iPhone will be the same, just with 3G of course. Go for it now.
Rufus T. Firefly
an iPhone is overrated imo, who needs a cell phone that cost about 400 bucks?
Berzerker
an iPhone is overrated imo, who needs a cell phone that cost about 400 bucks? It's not just a phone. It's an SSD-based iPod and a PDA all in one thin, sexy package.
rollcage
After getting mine i wouldn't have gotten any other phone. I know some people complain about the virutal keyboard, but I prefer it to anything else. It' what I'm using to write this post. I like the push mail offered by Yahoo, the great interface (by far the best I've seen on any phone), and it makes a great iPod too.

Still, you did forget the S on the end of "It'" Think Mark iPhone is more than a iPhone and most people look past the phone part anyways... Synaesthesia
other then the internet browser what else is good about it?I would say the size/shape of the phone is good, the screen, which is really great and the interface in general is very nice. Go use one in an Apple store, see for yourself.should i wait to see if the 3g iphone comes out within the next few months?Yeah, just wait a little. Otherwise the regular iPhone is great too.also is there any PC stuff with iphone? because i have been working on getting leopard running but i will try harder if its only on mac.Yes, it works with PC & Mac. mega
at&t's 3g coverage is HORRIBLE, basically only really big cities, and even then it does not go out to the burbs I'm not sure if there's any nationwide 3g yet, verizon needs to let these sim card phones work on their network!! NIXin
Maybe AT&T's 3G coverage, but here in Europe, it's a lot better with 3G (in the bigger countries of course, and though usually also bigger cities - still better then in the USA from what I've heard). EddM
Call me impatient, but I bought an iPhone the other day knowing full well a 3G iPhone was coming. I can only assume the 3G iPhone will be more expensive than the EDGE one, and I was only barely prepared to pay £270 for the thing so that kinda says it really. All in all, I'm very pleased with the iPhone and I'm sure you will be too whether you get one now or "in 60 days" as Mossberg proclaims.

Also, I'll be buying one soon too, even though the 3G is, as you said coming. But who know when and for how much...

The return policy is only good for 14 days. I'd either wait or just get one.
bigosx86noob
kk thanks. i think for that ill atleast wait a month or two(till june most likely) to see what else happens. thanks all for your help. also can it run flash or java or anything like that?(on the browser i mean)
Berzerker
Nope. Sun has announced a commitment to releasing a version of the Java Virtual Machine for the iPhone when 2.0 comes out. Adobe has said the same about Flash, but has backed out of those statements calling on Apple for helping with better support on the phone's side. They would never do that. There are reports of a thinner 3G version being announced at WWDC in June.

benwinship
As EddM said, a thinner 3G iPhone will probably be alot more expensive, and imo, 2.5g is fast enough.
Ongeloof
As EddM said, a thinner 3G iPhone will probably be alot more expensive, and imo, 2.5g is fast enough. Utterly agree! These people go around saying that it is not fast enough, WTF are they doing on it, WoW! Runescape! You have your Mac (hopefully) for the internet side of things, if anything, £169 is worth a SP1, NES, & GBA emu! Think Mark
Berzerker
EDGE is fast if you live in an area where not many use it. EDGE gets horribly slow in areas like NYC, or Philadelphia, or Newark. Too many people using it at the same time in a condensed area.
benwinship
if anything, £169 is worth a SP1, NES, & GBA emu! Have to disagree with that, i tried the NES, Genesis and GBA emu and all found them more or less unplayable, not because of the speed or anything (speed on most of the emu's is great) but because there's no buttons, even in Landscape mode i still couldn't get my head round it.
