Here is the tools I used for NVCAP.

Before modification save NVinject.kext (or NVinjectGo.kext)

If you have any problems, boot with -x and install your saved NVinject.kext

1. Boot under DOS and use NVFLASH to dump your graphic card firmware (nvflash -b save.rom)

2. Under OS X, launch Arti's tool and read "save.rom" then note your NVCAP address

3. Replace the NVCAP value in NVinject.kext with PlistEditor

4. Delete NVinject.kext and use kexthelper to install the modify one

With NVinjectGo_0.2.0b_512Mb and correct NVCAP, I have Dual screen monitors and no Fu@#{ng color banding !

Hope it will help !

PS: LCD sleep don't work and DVD player show black screen.

Hi all

This is exactly what I'm looking for.

But since I'm also a big noob, it doesn't work for me.

I partitioned my hd to 2 partition like in the fist post.

- I install Windows Vista Ultimate 64 on the second partition

- I installed Leopard on the first on

- I activated for boot on second partition

and Windows starts without problem

- I activated for boot the fist partition

reboot and black screen with message

H00000000

HFS+ partition error

I put the the Kaliway 10.5.2 DVD in drive and rebbot with F12 on DVD

there I didn't press any key to boot form DVD

Now I can see a grey Appel Logo on white background

then for 2-3 sec. a light blue screen

after this a black screen with mouse pointer

then nothing more

I used the default sleep kernel.

Thanks in advance for your help

Best regards

Tra

What is your videocard ? Did you made a test with -x to boot in safe mode ?

For the boot problem try this :

Boot with -s then type

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 ( /!\ Where Leopard installation)

flag x ( /!\ Where x is ur OS X partition number)

update

write

quit

reboot

well, that brings another problem.. How can you boot in DOS with a XPS?

You can use a boot CD, like Hiren's Boot CD or make your favorite USB key as a boot.

Google search gave me :

http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm

http://aaltonen.us/2004/03/01/tip-boot-fro...b-key-addendum/

I used a USB key (With Win95 or 98 DOS) and copy all my favorite DOS tools on it, it is faster than a CD-ROM. With XPS after DELL logo when you hit F12 on boot you can choose HDD, CD or USB.

Ok the Hp thing worked for me. I can't believe there's no other way to make a a bootable USB DOS other than Windows...

Now I have another problem, when I try to start the plist editor it give me an error dialog box: codec overrun.

Sorry to 'overrun' you with my many problems

EDIT: bah, I went to get it myself on google. but just so you know, your zipped file has probably a bad checksum.

So what I need to modify in plistedit?

I guessed that you have to edit the plist inside the nvinject.kext, but I'm a bit lost in it. I see several references of NVCAP.

The one that seems relevant to me is root>IOKitPersonalities>NVinject>entriesToAdd>NVCAP (data)

Is that right?

Even if it right, I can't make it work. You press FN+F8 to activate the dual screen right? because when I do so, the Hackintosh freeze, I have to press the power button for 4 sec to reboot. And I have the same NVCAP as you.

Any ideas what goes wrong?

Yes, you must modify the "root>IOKitPersonalities>NVinject>entriesToAdd>NVCAP (data)".

You can't use FN+F8, my computer freeze too when I press these keys. In the monitor menu choose "detect monitor" and if one is connected it will show your desktop. TV-out don't work :D

I am having an issue with Boot Camp and the "Boot Camp Assistant cannot be used.: You must update your computer's Boot ROM firmware before using this setup assistant." error. Wtf.. It is "up-to-date" that I'm aware of..

Help please?!

@skyykj : You're welcome, don't forget to post your tips here.

@insaneSOJO : It seems kernel influence temperature management. I used vanilla, kabyl and modbin kernel. Fans speed change but it's extremely rare. I found my laptop was more hot with OS X than Vista but maybe it's Apple settings for more silence ? For a periode I touch the surface near the power button to be sure it's OK and check temperature monitor :)

I've got question for people who upgrade to 10.5.3 or 10.5.4 : Have you got USB issues ?!?

Sometimes Finder freeze at startup, I need to boot with "-v -x". It make me crazy !

Only 10.5.2 work like a charm (except DVD player...)

No, nothing special,

I installed Leopard with the 10.5.2 Kalyway install disk, then i updated to 10.5.3 with Kalyway combo update patch and installed newest vanilla kernel, then I just used the update manager to update to 10.5.4. Everything is working great.

But I don't use Time Machine...

Can you confirm USB is configured with High Speed in BIOS ?
