Ricardo1980
Hi everybody out there! I got an incredible iPhone, and I would like to build some small programs, but I don't have any MAC computer, so my question is if it is possible to install iPhone SDK on a computer with a hacked version of TIGER (as far as I know, SDK requires 10.5.2, so my idea is to install 10.5.1 and later use a pacth to update it to 10.5.2) Is it possible or will I have any problem installing that? Thank you very much for your help. Ricardo.
stroke
No, you can't use the SDK with Tiger, or anything before 10.5.2. So you'd have to install Leopard.
jasonknm
I've managed to install the iPhone SDK on a Leopard 10.5 (using the 10.5 flat image) on my Dell Precision 390. The SDK works fine and the iPhone emulator works fine. Didn't manage to get the ethernet working (Broadcom 5754) so it's quite annoying trying to develop without network. Anyway, you don't need 10.5.2 to run the sdk.
Morpheus_90
That's a topic I'd like to open! I'm really interested in playing with the SDK & my Ipod touch, but unfortunately I've got an Amilo Pa1510... I still can't run and install Leopard on it (I'm an osx86 noob at the moment) PS Sorry for my poor English
Ricardo1980
Thanks for your replies. When I said TIGER, actually I said LEOPARD, sorry for this mistake. To jasonknm: what sdk version are you using? the last one or the first one? I read over there 10.5.2 was a requirement. Maybe this requirement only affects beta 2, but not first one. Thanks. jasonknm
I installed the first one... then later I upgraded to the latest beta (the one with the Interface Builder). They both work fine.
Ricardo1980
I installed the first one... then later I upgraded to the latest beta (the one with the Interface Builder). They both work fine. One question, can you launch or execute apps that you create using your PC in your iPhone??? I'm specially interested in developint opengl apps (games) but I read it was impossible to execute them at the moment. Do you know anything about this? Thanks a lot. I don't actually have an iPhone so I haven't tried that. Can't think of why it won't work, though. If the PC can recognized the iPhone, you should be able to run the apps on the iPhone. The opengl apps can't run on the iPhone Simulator, so I guess the only way is to try with an actual iPhone.
YOzefff
ok ... so I have Kaliway Leopard 10.5.2. I've downloaded the Official iPhone SDK from Apple. No I don't have AMD) and I need 10.5.3 ... eeh .. so .. is there a work around?
LinuxChild
I've got iATKOS v4i and vista in a dual boot with the final SDK installed and working perfectly with the iphone, the only problem is that I have this on my laptop, and rely on wireless for my internet connection. Currently the Intel wireless card in my laptop isn't supported so I have no internet while on Leopard Thus, I am now trying to get leopard up and running in a vmware. Armentage
I made a fair bit of progress getting the FINAL SDK to run on a 10.5.2 Leopard box. Here's what I did: 1) Install the Iphone_SDK_Final DMG file. It won't let you install the Iphone parts; no worries. 2) Open the Packages folder on the DMG and install all the packages labeled IPHONE and "DeveloperDiskImage". 3) These packages will install into /Platforms, but we need them in /Developer/Platforms. Use Finder, Terminal, whatever, to move these files over. 4) Voila -- You should at least have a working Iphone Simulator. You'll be able to write code and run it on your PC.
