Just a quick tip... many people (me included) failed to get 1600x1200 on GeForce cards using the boot plist "Graphics Mode" thing, but I was able to get even higher - I used to run 2048x1536x32 and it was great for photo editing.
Just wanted to record it here for those who hadnt tried it.
The irony is that I splashed out on new hardware and now with my X1800XL PCI-E I have QE, CI and OpenGL, but I can only get 1280x1024!

2048x1536@60 refreash rate? don't torture yourself like that
. it's bad enough at 1280x1024@60

I share the same view on that point... I feel like I could of just bought a £10 PCI card and it would've done better than this £210 7800GT
The max I can go is 1280x1024@60... I'll try that resolution you mentioned in a bit...
