I am looking to get an external sound card for my macbook pro.

I was looking at the Digital Music SX

the X-Fi

and...i dont know...would any of you recommend any of those two ? any others that excel ?

Umm...for OS X i would have to suggest the X-Fi. It is also useful in vista if you want EAX. First I would check to see if that card is compatible with Leopard though but I can't image why it wouldn't be.

why the x-fi over the other one ? im kinda liking the whole having another small panel on my desk...

X-Fi sounds cooler

I don't think it would really matter though. If their both compatible then It wouldn't matter that much unless one of them have some special feature.

I use a Audigy 2 NX. Stereo output is great (better than windows) and the digital in/outputs are found. Line in too but this has shows bad quality. System profiler detects right name.
