just a guide i made for my system specs, wanted to throw it out there for anyone else that might need help. system is fully working, hope this helps someone. see attached for my notes.

updates

12-14-08: been a while, but ive finally updated my mac install on my desktop. 100% working now, no lan freezes yet. once again please post questions, hopefully we can get something worked out.

02-05-09: posting a fix for rosetta apps. thanks to JustJonno for pointing out they didnt work. this is a problem that causes rosetta apps/entire system to crash, and should be fixed during install, but we have a solution so its okay i guess. just run the files post install and you can run your rosetta apps again.

files used:

Voodoo kernel

nForceLAN.kext from eno

Rosetta Translate Fix

CarbonLib Fix

note: ALC850.pkg is included in the zip because i ran the package post install. if it causes problems on the install, leave it out like i did

Desktop_10.5.5.zip

CarbonLib_FIX.pkg.zip

Rosetta_Translate_Fix.pkg.zip

hey

i have an asus a8n-e mobo, so we are in the same boat, in fact i am using most of the same drivers you are.

i'm having problems with shutting down and (the lack of EVER) starting up.

It installs just fine and boots up, but when I shut it down and restart, all I got was a blinking cursor after my mobo booted up.

any ideas? did you highlight the bootloader at the bottom of the customize install screen?

yeah the guide i made was for my desktop. so it will really only help if you have some of the same hardware as i do. if you dont youll have to look elsewhere, but you could try to post your specs in your sig, that helps people the most.

i'm also using A8N-SLI and i used the same disc, but I could not get the install disc to boot....its just stuck at the apple screen.

what kind of settings do you have for the HDD and DVD drive? I read that it would only install on IDE drives for the A8N-SLI from the same cable as the DVD drive.

Right now my settings are

2x WD 200 GB and 2x Seagate 320GB on the 4 nVidia SATA port

2 dvd writer on IDE

please help me out

well, first off, im not so good at debugging these reports. thanks for posting it though, its more helpful than giving people nothing to go on. hopefully someone else can help out if i cant.

but.. if im reading it correctly, you chose to install additional fonts. is that right? if so, try leaving those out.

also, post your full specs in your sig so i can see what other hardware you have.

hello everybody,

I have a problem installing Max OS X (iDeneb) on my Toshiba C2D, 2Ghz, IntelGMA, the exact model is L300-1AM-2G.

I go trough the installation process and after the pc restarts pops up a window, where i should choose my location, keyboard mapping and after that if i'd like to transfer information from my "old Mac".

After I click on "transfer later with"... some utility it "thinks" for a while and after that prompts me the same window as in the beginning. I've tried everything I could of thought to, but unfortunately no effect, so I still can't run the actual system.

Could someone experienced the same problem help me, because I really got nothing.

Thanks a lot in advance!

best regards,

Sly

There doesnt seem to have been a post in here for sometime now so heres hoping anway.

I installed this on to my IBM Laptop

Processor - Pentium M 1.86 GHz

Installed Memory - 1024 MB (DDR2 SDRAM)

Hard Drive - 60 GB Ultra ATA 100, 5400 RPM

I can boot the CD, i choose the language, and then choose where to install, and then it goes away, verifys the disc, and then installs. It then reboots itself, if i dont press anything on reboot it comes up with Grey screen with coding behind, and then a message pops up in a few languages which says 'You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button"

If i restart and again do nothing, same screen, or if i press a button it then boots the disc and takes me back through the install process...

Any ideas?

Yeah the text behind the restart screen does mention the word panic lol

I've gone into the BIOS and disabled the items that i'm not using (and not stuff like the mouse etc) and then in the 5/6 seconds before boot, i press the key and get to Start up Darwin/x86 with no options, and thats where im typing those commands (if thats the right place) and still no luck. I know Microsoft really well, but no hardly anything about Apple (thus why im doing this as a cheap way to learn)

okay, sounds like both of you need to boot -v to get some info. see if you can tell what it crashes after, and that will help narrow down the problem.

mohio, if you can tell me some more about your graphics card i can make a boot.plist with OSX86Tools for you to try. what outputs does it have? from left to right, is it: DVI & DVI, VGA & DVI, or DVI & VGA?

Ok

I have same type of situation going on.

first my specs:

Amd 64 2800 Clawahmmer core with the extra 512 l2 disabled.

768mb ram

Gigabyte k8ns nforce3 chipset

realtek 8185 wireless adapter

a 40gb hd running xp

a 60gb hd trying to run osx

lite-on dvd burner

ok. I used to boot JAS 10.4.7 back in the day when it was the popular thing, then i got out of running osx86 for a while to run a dedicated linux (all kinds) box. I recently picked up Kalyway's copy of 10.5.2 and tried it under every config i could think of and got no luck. so i got the better option of Ideneb's 10.5.5. (both dvds are patched for AMD and sse2 support). So now after trying just everything i can think of to get 5.5 to work, im at a standstill.

Ive installed everyway possible and booted f8 every way possible without switching kernels (i dont know how). every time (i boot verbose) it will go through the motions and then the screen will go blank like it is about to boot into osx and then kernel panic......

sometimes it hangs after the ocspd and sometimes further past that.......

I dont know what to try or to do anymore, but i would love to get this at least somewhat working on this machine just to play and have fun with it.

Thank you.

_Totty

whats with the 512 l2 being disabled? whats the reason for that?

whats your graphics card?

why did you patch iDeneb?, it already has support for AMD chips.

have you successfully completed an install, or do you mean the disc hangs on boot?

answer these and maybe we can come up with something.
