With the newly found message from Apple about Not Stealing OSX it got me wondering how many people here actually own a copy of OSX 10.4?

If everyone here who is using OSX on their PC were to buy a copy of OSX 10.4 (Doesn't even have to be a Intel version) Would Apple really care that we are hacking it to run on a PC? Both of the messages that Apple has put into OSX haven't said anything about hacking OSX they just say not to pirate it.

Anyway I do infact own a copy of 10.4, I was at the Apple Store the day it was released.

Tiger came with my Mac Mini. It's a PPC only install disc.

Apple's licensing (as far as I can interpret legal-ese) is that not only is the license applicable to just one system, I think they also mean just one APPLE system.

Currently, if the legal dept wanted to go on a Blitzkrieg, they could nail anybody who has OS X running on non Apple supplied hardware. I don't think that would be a good PR move.

Rather, as is likely the case with 10.4.5 and what's to come after, they are going to make "the rest of us" really HATE than darned fricken TPM chip...

Honestly If Apple were to release a version of OS X that ran on any intel hardware or even any PC hardware, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. The only reason I haven't is because of the cheapness of x86 hardware. That is a very good reason to compete against windows, you already have a fan base, why not give consumers a choice?

Yep, Tiger on my iBook 1.33 (wow, these things is popular on this board).

And to everyone who asked: it is illegal for you to use the restore disk version of the OS on ANY piece of hardware other than the one it came with. Even if you own a full boxed verson of the OS, you can only legally use it on Apple hardware. There is no way around it: OS X on beige box IS illegal.
