Anybody have 100% workig nVidia TV out?

I first got TV out working with NVinject drivers 0.1.5 (comes with Kalyway 10.5.1). Plug in TV, detect displays -- works.

However, if I boot with TV already connected, I see BIOS mirrored to TV at first, but once in OS, nothing is responsive -- dock, desktop icons, menu bar. Have to crash it down.

Used Scott Dangel's installer to test both NVinject 0.2.0 and 0.2.1. Tested them on both 10.5.1 and 10.5.2. None of these do TV out for me at all -- detect displays or booting with TV gives me black screens and unresponsive OS.

I have an old 6600GT (PCie). Yeah, I know, old.

So, before I run out and buy a new nVidia board, I'd like to know if anyone has TV out 100% working, without any of the issues described above. And if so, which model/kext/Leopard build? I don't need anything expensive either, this is not a gaming rig, just trying to play video out to a standard def TV.

I have read the Hardware Compatibility Lists like this one here, but they focus little if at all on TV out.

EDIT: 0.1.5 only worked with VGA+TV out. DVI+TV out had the same issues across all kext versions tested (.15, .20, .21) as VGA did with versions .20 and .21. In other words, the only time I had any success was on 0.1.5, with VGA to monitor, and then only if TV was not plugged in during boot.

I have similar issues, and I've narrowed it down the nvdaHAL10-50 kexts, and perhaps NVDAResman. If you know how to hack a kext than you might find something when you compare these from leopard to those from tiger. I used the Nvidia kexts from JaS 10.4.8 together with Natit, I have TV out working but without CI/QE, so if you manage to fix this i'd like to know. ;)

same problem for me when the TV out is plugged.

it ends up being frozen.

I had a hard time with this.

Thanks for your post to find this out!! ;)

I have an Asus EN 7300GT Silent.

prob in 10.5.1 and 10.5.2, using nvinject or some boot.plist strings.

doobiebro: I'll look for thos JaS kexts. Which Natit version worked for you?

And, um, could you define CI/QE? I see constant references and but web searches don't turn up definitions. I'm guessing it's a set of features or instructions on the nVidia board?

Hi Guys & Gals i have a 7300gt working in part i used the NVINSTALLER 4.1 available here - http://scottdangel.com/blog/?p=21

and the Natit Duel fix available here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=6599

If you reboot with the tvout plugged in it causes a kernel panic and will not load, if you plug the tvout in after loading and then detect displays in system preferences you get full access to everything. if anyone can improve on this please let me know.

i am having the worrssstttt time with my graphics card. i have a nvidia geforce 8500 gt 512mb and i installed the 0.2.1 nvinject 512mb and the 10.5.2 kexts (im on 10.5.2 leopard) and before id start up with blue screen, now it constantly restarts after loading some files (idk which ones) now if i type "graphicsmode"="1280x1024" it works fine but i hate having to type that in. before all this {censored} i had it working PERFECT but i tried to get my tv-out working. i plugged it in and clicked Detect Displays. I saw the tv flicker and then my monitor went black. nothing would work. restarted and started doing all this {censored} i stated above. i restarted in safe mode and messed with a lot of {censored}, ive porbably installed every single nvidia graphics card installer on my machine. how can i get this tv out to work? thank you :)

Just to follow up on my original thread: I never had any luck getting TV out of my Hac Pro. Tried with both a 6600 and 7900 card. Even bought the $20 Apple DVI -> Component/S-Vid dongle, still no good.

In the end, my solution was to re-purpose my old, old Mac Mini (G4, first generation) as a Leopard Front Row media player. I have a third-party IR receiver, Remote Buddy Software, and the Apple Remote that came with my MBP. The DVI dongle works fine with the mini, so there's my TV out. Unfortunately the audio on the G4 mini sucks, in fact it got into the habit of picking up Radio Disney when plugged into my amp, so I wound up getting the Griffin USB audio dongle, and that solved it.

Created a few network drives from my Hac Pro that mounts to & feeds the Mini media player, and I'm in business.
