I believe the apple remote uses ir but it needs a direct line of sight. I use a keyspan remote for front row that is more flexible. I found a cheap bluetooth 2.0 usb device when I ordered some parts from china and it is recognzed by the system. My wireless card is uses the Atheros 5008 a/b/g/n chipset and is basically the same mini-pcie card used in the macbook pros. I found a pci express to mini-pcie adapter to connect it to my hackintosh, and it is now recognized as an airport extreme. I went this route because I couldn't find any pci/pci express cards that did 802.11N 5ghz-band cards that would work with the airport extreme; all the cards i could find would only use the N networks at 2.4ghz. This solution cost me about $140, which is mostly the adapter, but now my desktop hackintosh won't bring down the speed of my N netork.

I don't have a laptop. :(

I'm using a pci-express to mini-pci express adapter to connect my wireless card. I also ordered my wireless card from ebay. Just do a search for atheros 5008 and I believe there's a dealer that sells them for about $40 with 3 antenna wires; he's from shanghai.

drunknbass: the first pic you posted is a mini pci card.. the second is a mini pcie card. they are not compatible. the latter is what you'd find in a more modern laptop.

I don't personally know of a bluetooth / wifi combination card of any sort, particularly one that would work in osx, but for what it's worth, search ebay for "mini pci airport" and you'll find dozens of actual apple wifi cards that will fit in your laptop. as far as bluetooth goes, I've heard some success stories with those $5 usb dongles you can get on ebay.
