2 issues with Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P rev. 2.0

I have 2 issues after my new install of Leopard (Kalyway 10.5.1, EFI, MBR, Vanilla) on my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P (Full specs in signature)

1) Sleep only partially works. It goes to sleep, for wakeup you need to press the power button and it wakes up, but after wakeup from sleep, its seems quite irresponsive (endless beachball)

2) Shutdown doesn't seem to be working. I shut down the computer and the screen turns off and all, but the power LED light is still on and the fans are still working. Any solutions?

I would appreciate if anyone could share any info that might get this to work. The 10.5.2 update perhaps?

Another thing:

Restart now seems to not work either ?? It was working after the first boot but now it seems inconsistent.

EDIT: Found a workaround for the shutdown, restart problem, you log off and shutdown or restart from there. However it would still be nice if I could do it from the Apple menu.

Another issue now:

Every time I shutdown or restart OS X, my time in both Leopard and Windows XP gets reset. BIOS time seems to be OK but the OS time is resetting every time I reboot or shutdown OS X. More and more issues...

Hi

I have the same mobo and revision as well as cpu. See sig for rest of specs.

I had Kalyway 10.5.1 with GUID and i was able to restart and shutdown, but not sleep. After upgrading to 10.5.2, sleep works, but shutdown and restart doesn't work.

You may want to have a look at this thread and see if it helps you. I tried it and doesnt seem work.

Haven't tried shutdown/restart from the login screen. Will try it after work.

My mobo came with the F7 bios. If you go to the Gigabyte website and look for your mobo, there are 2 (or 3) bios revisions up from F7 (?F9). Maybe you want to have a look and consider flashing your bios?

ps: sleep/wake (with power on button) is almost instantaneous.

For me, sleep worked originally, but then when i updated it to 10.5.2 it stop working. A poster in another topic (diff mobo? idk) said that he had the same problem, and fixed it by going back to his 10.5.0 kernel. so its a problem with the vanilla kernel.

shutdown/restart was fixed using the AppleACPIPlatform from kalyway (found in the first post of the main thread on this site).

good luck!

twobunnyrabbit,

The ACPIPlatform that supposedly fixes shutdown isn't in the Kalyway thread anymore. Its been replaced with an ACPIPlatform that fixes PS/2, which I use :)

Anyway, I also attempted to create a GFX string for my card (7900GS) but I saw it directly said that only the 512MB ROM Flashed version of the card works. Someone posted a string for the 256MB 7900GS that was said to work, I tried it and I got:

Core Image: Software

Quartz Extreme: Unsupported

So partially working, not fully working on my card at least.

i've got the p35-ds3l and sleep and shutdown work fine, however restart doesn't (it shuts down, but doesn't actually restart). I'm running 10.5.2 - i upgraded kalyway 10.5.1 using the apple update and not kalyway's update. I love sleep (no pun intended) and the instant-on feature is one of the reasons i like osx so much.

For my system, I dont think the NVinject.kext have anything to do with it not restarting/shutdown. Verified by booting into single user mode and tried to do a reboot/shutdown (which didnt work).

Socal swimmer had a good suggestion. I replaced the ACPIPlatform file which i got from this thread and replaced it with my current one. Now reboot and sleep works but not shutdown. Which is fine with me, as wake up from sleep is much, much faster than a fresh start. Can reboot into vista now without having to press the reset button.

I hope this helps you pcwiz.

I have the same problem Shutdown doesn't seem to be working. I shut down the computer and the screen turns off and all, but the power LED light is still on and the fans are still working. Netkas is not a working solution

S1 Sleep = screen turns off only like the others are experiencing. I got everything to work except sleep. Was wondering if you gyus think its guid, bluetooth, ahci and gfx strings thats causing it. I remember it sleeping before 10.5.2 but I don't really know whats changed since then. Any ideas? Any of you that do not have sleep working but have all of those enabled/instaled? Thanks. When I put it to sleep, it sleeps fine but when I power it back on, it boots up again going into the post screen etc doing the system tests etc.

I have bluetooth, GUID, and AHCI but no GFX strings. (Does that help anything / Is it worth it to you?) So any of the first three could be the problem. What happens during S3 sleep? Mine doesn't work at all from wake with S3... BTW what voltage are you running to get your chip to 3.3 and multiplier? Stock / Air cooling?

zalman 9700led with 9x multi. So sleep works for you? Gah I hav bluetooth, mbr, no ahci and no gfx strings hehe. About to switch to water cooling though. Which acpiplatform did u use? and did u do anything to get sleep to work? I found that shutdown and reboot doesnt always work which is weird. And waking up from sleep just reboots completely. Did you use the nvinstaller .33 for ur gcard?

Yeah I did use that installer. I had to install the 9.2.0 Netkas speedstep kernel to everything to work properly. Sleep works somewhat in S1 in bios. The computer sleeps but the fans still spin / motherboard stays on.

I have this same board. I have Kalyway 10.5.2 with vanilla kernel installed. Sleep and restart work fine.

Shutdown works fine 99% of the time. But every once in a while the fans keep running after I shutdown. It almost never happens and seems completly random. I seems like it didn't start happening till I get a new power supply, but it happens so rarely I'm not sure if that was it.
