R. Bear Helms
eWeek article shows that Apple has had dual-booting on the brain for quite some time... early plans in fact were meant to accommodate just that thing. I infer that EFI actually isn't a copy protection mechanism, but more of a facilitator for multiple OS equipped macs. Since OS X doesn't need a BIOS, but some less-fruity Operating Systems do, this may well be a good mechanism to give the Core Duo at least one operating system per core! scousi
My thoughts are echoed in this article. By not making it easy to dual-boot Xp on their hardware, they are encouraging piracy because it's the only way to do it! I would buy their hardware if it was duo-bootable. How can they fail to see the demand for this? Hopefully, it's being planned for the future. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=29710
