Threepwood
Is it possible to boot into XP using Parallels or VMWare and get access to the TV output from there, to e.g. watch movies on a regular TV? Can anyone try this for me? Thanks!
Krazubu
As long as OSX supports TV out, yes
Threepwood
So what you're saying is that Windows doesn't really get access to all the gfx card's features when run on a virtual box? With the regular XP driver. No dual monitors?
munky
what movies do you have that you cant just play under Mac OS X? unless they're DRM-laden with Windows DRM, you should be able to play them under Mac OS X with either VLC or MPlayerOSX. Also worth keeping an eye on is XBMC for Mac (www.osxbmc.com).
Threepwood
I meant that I want to watch movies on my TV instead of the 17" computer monitor with crappy contrast. TV out rarely works on hackintoshes. I have it working on mine, but I'm going to get some new parts soon and then I probably won't have TV out anymore. One solution would be to restart and go into XP whenever I want to use the TV, but that's not the optimal solution. Would interrupt downloads too. macgirl
Parallels or Funsion cant acces the real hardware, there is a layer, only USB and PMCIA devices could be acces directly from the virtual machine. If you could not get TV out on Mac OS the VM too. In my case my AMD Rig has a TV output and works, I only need to Detect Displays, my PowerBook also has TV out, I just connect the composite^SVideo adapter and it's there, no need to detect. My Dell Lappy has a HDMI connector but right now I don't have any to connect there
Threepwood
My TV out only works if it's connected during boot, detect displays doesn't work.
