Firewire Audio Hardware Problem?

Hi All, having following problem:

 

System: Intel Q6600 (2.4ghz)

Gigabyte P35-DS3R

2GB RAM

8800GT

On board sound.

'besta' PCI Firewire card

 

Running Kalyway 10.5.2, all working perfectly.

 

Recently bought a Metric Halo 2882 Firewire interface.

Download all latest drivers etc, install etc.

Go to play and all I get is incoherent stuttering

 

Device is being recognised in System Profiler and Mio as well.

 

Device also works perfectly on my housemates Macbook...

 

any ideas?
