The problem is the video card kexts (ATI 19x0 package). I have an ATI X1950XTX and the same thing happend. So I reinstalled without that video card package and there are no errors upon boot, however you still need to install proper drivers for resolution change and QE/CI.

thx spartan. i fixed it with deleting Natit.kext. Tried Bronyas Driver but it killed my System. So my Sapphire ATI x1950gt does not work correctly.

I also tested SATA II but the System does not recognize any SATA-II-HDD, though I know it is able to, because on Zeph's 10.5.1 it worked.

Have you tried -v at boot-up to find out what the kernel panic is?

Have you tried -v at boot-up to find out what the kernel panic is?

yes, just did, it says that it is waiting for the root device. Although I have made the af partition the active one in XP via diskpart....

is this

In the command window, type:

>> List disk

>> Select disk [disk #]

>> List partition

>> create partition primary id=af

>> active

the same as this?

sudo -s

fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX --->(X is the number of your HD, if you have only on its 0)

update

f X --->(X is the number of the partition where you installed Leopard)

w

q

reboot

or would I need to do both?

edit -

this does not really matter, i tried to enter in -s mode, but it still said that it was "still waiting for root device"

the funny thing here is that the 10.5.2 disk does not work with my SATA drive nor my ATA (ide) drive. The ide drive is the same drive that I used to install the Zeph 10.5.1 ver 1 to (which works great) so i am really at a loss.

I assume this is not a SSE2 release?

Which means I wasted around 8 hours today.

Nice. Back to Jas 10.4.8, the only release to have ever worked on my dinosaur A64.

Somehow I managed to get an install screen, that is an improvement over all the other versions I have tried. Nice work there

But the usual happens... black/grey blinking screen, waiting for root, unifinished install etc etc.

I have basically tried every conceivable setup from the install screen.

I believe it would have been easier for people if the name of the release included the standard (sse2/sse3) description.

Hey together,

i've got a problem. Finally, after 6 hours of installation i restarted my system. I tried to boot Leopard but instead of booting i only saw a blinking _

So i searched for a tutorial how to make the partition active and did every step mentioned there:

fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX

fdisk: 0>update

fdisk:*0> f Y

“Partition 2 marked active”

fdisk:*0> w

Device could not be accessed exclusively.

A reboot will be needed for changes to take effect. OK? [n]y

Writing MBR at offset 0.

fdisk: 0> q

Now, when i restart my system it shows me b0 error

Did i forget something or what is wrong with my installation? It could be possible that i really forgot something because i'm a noob if it comes to hackintosh stuff. So please be patient ^^

Thanks,

Tom

//edit

I've chosen GUID instead of MBR ... just to let you know. Don't know if it's worth to get mentioned

//edit 2

One weird thing that happened is that

fdisk: 0>update

fdisk:*0> f Y

changed to

fdisk: 1>update

fdisk:*1> f Y

itself. I dont know why since i typed ...rdisk0

//another edit ^^

Well, i think i did a few things completely wrong. First thing is, that i better had chosen the MBR option instead of GUID. Next thing is the name, i had no keyboard while installing (PS2) so i left the original name: "unbenannte partition 1" or similar. I think i'll install it again today in the evening.

So could someone please tell me

Does Having EFI now mean we can use the guid setting when partitioning rather than the mbr? and still boot from the guid partition without problems.

I read that you needed to use mbr to partition the bootable drive, can we use guid now?

I Finished downloading the Zephyroth's 10.5.2 from the usenets location listed in another thread. I unpacked the files using

Parchive with no errors and burned the iso to a dvd using 1X burn speed. When I try to boot off the DVD I keep getting

the screen that tells me to power off the machine and power back on. How do I get by this? :)

dvd-rw ide

install failed..

verifies install dvd, starts install for about 30 seconds, then fails with a "install could not be completed because no software was found to install"

tried with various install options, always fails.

:'(

i tried his 10.5.1 dvd on the bay and that never even was able to format the disc, so i guess this one is a step in the right direction :(
