Hi all, i hope this is the thread to post this in but I have decided to try xxx 10.4.11 instead of kalyway 10.4.10.

Installed 8.9.1 universal kernal, with intel gma 900 driver and gma900 fix.

added the loginwindow kext.

Problem 1: the os begins to load but then goes to the blue screen with no cursor. I have read about the paper clip method and the fn hotkey to switch displays. Has their been any solutions to this other then the ones i stated. I have browsed through several post and can see that this is a common problem, but the posts are all really old, and still no solution

Problem 2: When using the paperclip method, the os loads, but my notebook lcd is a widescreen and the video only appears on half the screen.

I am assuming that the drivers in this image were the latest, i have tried various different methods but no go.

Would this GMA 900 problem happen with all versions of OSX86 or is it just with these newest.

Any info is greatly appreciated

Mattigus

my notebook info:

Centrino-m 1.6Ghz

1gb ram

Intel GMA 900

Intel chipset

(dont think you'll need any more of my info, if you do lemme know, thx)

  • 2 weeks later...

I used the XxX install on my laptop (Similar system but not exactly the same) and did a few odd steps that were just random bits combined from different guides just to see what works, and oddly this method did. But Remember, I didn't have the exact same issue you did, but this may help, I am not sure.

1) I installed using the base for SSE2 machines as described in the XxX thread

2) Go into single user mode ( "-s" without quotes in the Boot options)

3) Once booted I used the "/sbin/mount -uw /" (Without quotes again) command

4) Remove both the AppleIntel900.kext and AppleIntelGMA950.kext files with these commands:

		rm -R /system/library/extensions/AppleIntel900.kext
	rm -R /system/library/extensions/AppleIntelGMA950.kext

5) Removed the extensions.kextcache file

		rm -R /system/library/extensions.kextcache

6) Rebooted with the XxX install disk again and installed the GMA900 - fix drivers under the Intel driver section

7) After installed booted with options "-f -v" without quotes in the Bootloader with a second monitor connected, though I use the paper clip method now (I actually soldered the wires in a D-Sub connector instead of just inserting paper clips)

After that I had CI/QE and it automatically booted in 1280x800x32 using the laptop as the main monitor. For some reason just using the GMA900 - fix drivers to install with the operating system didn't work and I don't claim to know a lot, I just know this worked for me. For reference here is my system:

Processor Intel Celeron M Processor 360M (1.4-GHz, 400-MHz FSB, 1-MB L2 cache)1

Chipset Mobile Intel 910GML Express Chipset

System Memory 512-MB 400-MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Hard Drive 60-GB3 5400 rpm SMART PATA

Removable Media DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive

Display 15.4-inch WXGA BrightView (1280 x 800 resolution)

Graphics Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (QE/CI works)

Audio Conexant CX20468 (Works but Headphones dont turn speakers off)

Wired Communications Intel 82562V 10/100 Network Connection (Works)

Integrated Wireless Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11 b/g WLAN (Works)

Install Options:

-Apple Combo 10.4.11 Update (optional)

-no-EFI kexts (all 4 items)

-8.9.1 Kernel Universal + Patches (all 3 items)

-RecommendedPatches (all 5 items)

-GMA 900 - fix (With a little fixing of my own)

-Powermanagement Bundle
