kfdan
I'd love to see Direct X on Mac that way some of the more interesting applications that at this time only run on windows machines could come into Macs. I'm not just talking about games either. I mean video production.
Eggman
Sorry, but DirectX is a Microsoft-trademarked thing. Trust me; everything would be completely different if there was DirectX for Mac! The equivalient for Mac is called Quartz.
Mr. Bond
That would never come to be... Like Eggman said (Is that a Beastie Boys reference in anyway? ), It's an MS trademark. Apple's not going to jump ship on Quartz and use Direct X instead. Although it would be pretty badass to have some more developers working on Mac games. That thing (DX) is the one item that keeps game developers off of the Mac. They seem enamoured with DirectX for gaming.

Eggman
Well said, New001! That had to be a typo, for the obvious reason that it comes out as an EXE. Unless... Someone with Darwine working tries it. Can someone with every graphical feature try it in Darwine?
6ot4hr
hey are there any ways to emulate pc games on mac? is there enough games made for mac, like warcraft, unreal tournament, call of duty?
kikos
DirectX would be on linux before mac. The possibility of MS porting to either is highly unlikely.
U.C.
Next up on Microsoft copying Apple's features. Microsoft copies the switcheroo, ports DirectX to Mac. Considering, its first on the compatibility list

bjr1028
DirectX isn't needed, especially with OGL 2.0 coming. It's a minor part of the porting process. The only part of it to give any kind of trouble was the Directplay networking standard and that has been phased out mostly
advid
if there was dx for mac, there would be a lot more games
bjr1028
No there wouldn't. DX to OGL conversions are done all the time.
A Nonny Moose
No there wouldn't. DX to OGL conversions are done all the time. Yep. It's done with every DX game that is ported over to the Mac. The Intel switch will lead to faster release dates because coders don't have to worry about Endian issues that plagued the PowerPC. Of course, there is still the conversion OS-wise...
