The Master
I really loved the translucent menus in Leopard. Now with 10.5.2 they've made them "slightly-less translucent", read NOT TRANSLUCENT AT ALL :censored2: It would have made much more sense to have an option for this, like the menu-bar. They giveth and then they TAKETH AWAY Is there a hack or something that can restore the menus to the way they were before?

You can choose Translucent menu bar or not. If it's not translucent, have you installed the graphics update? You might have lost QE/ CI which would loose the translucency. The Baron
I'm not talking about the menu bar, dude. I'm talking about the actual menus. Sorry, just got up, still on my first cup of tea. Yep, it's pretty crappy that they've gone, I didn't have a problem with the way they were.
SIMONCHARLIE
I have installed both updates, but I still don't have a menu bar trans option in my Desktop/Screen saver sys prefs. Iam running a Dual 2GHZ G5 PPC. any ideas???

Iam running a Dual 2GHZ G5 PPC. Well if you previously used a little hack to make the menubar solid, you must undo it for the item to appear. http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?sto...uery=menu%2Bbar I really loved the translucent menus in Leopard. cabron
most of menus are near to 100% opaque now only few ones are translucently Id agree with yours guys, apple should bring back or at least leave an option to make the menus and whole stuff with blur translucent effect. Also, like we can use in "blurminal" an option to controle the blurry behind the menus
pnoytechie
try to pop a menu over a red surface. translucency is much more evident there... but as carbon said... it's now =>97% translucent
cyrana
I do wish there was some sort of translucency slider. Although most of the time it seems translucent enough...just when I'm in Safari and on a page like this one (where so much is bright white) that it seems almost opaque. kylepsp
We all complained when they added the translucent menu bar complaining it was too much like vista! Ah how we were wrong
Synaesthesia
What was wrong with the translucent menus? I thought they looked awesome! No legibility issues either! And whats the point of making them >= 97% translucent, I'm never going to see that! It's just a waste of cycles I say (I know it's done by my GFX card, but still, I'm upset here!) It was one of my favorite things in Leopard. Not a deal killer but I hope Apple bring it back
equilibriumuk
I liked translucent menu's aswell The new bar transparency seems better, just a shame they took translucency totally from the menu's
fatshitcat
Thank God they changed it back! Didn't you guys find that tranclucency annoying/distracting? You coud barely focus on the content of the menus. It reminded me of 10.1. Also, note that the menus in 10.5.2 are not opaque, if you put a wallpaper with contrast you'll see. What I want back is those rounded screen corners..... The menu bar is soo bland without them. And Macs had rounded corners since the first Macintosh. cabron
They have to re-made the entire appearence prefpane We have the same options since god knows... Its hard for dev and apple engineers make stuff for 6 or 12, many likes and dislikes some or other things A "new" tab in the prefpane with all customization options what we can do in leo will solve everything. X-Ray Mac
Is there anyway of getting the menubar more translucent. I know it has the option under System Preferences, but it's not as see through as it used to be.. The program Opaquemenu didn't do justice either. Colonel
They really just need to give us sliders and let us decided on the translucency ourselves.
rob356
Could this poll have something to do with it? I found it on macosxhints.com 731 said they didn't like the translucent menus/menu bar. That was the most disliked feature of leopard. Don't get me wrong though, I liked the translucent menus, I think that what colonel said was a great idea, don't just force one setting upon us. idividebyzero
They lumped menus with the menu bar. They are ENTIRELY different. I guarantee that if they made a seperate option for menus and menu bar that the menus would have practically no votes since it was essentially exactly the same as Tiger but no stupid scanline background. The menu BAR was hated right up there with the 3d dock in terms of complaints, everyone said it looked like Vista (vista doesnt have transparent menus). Apple was too stupid to realize what people were actually complaininig about. I had never once seen a person complain about the menus, I did however hear people say they loved the new look without the scanlines.

Berzerker
Wow, what the HELL is with these people who voted. I love stacks, absolutely LOATHE a 2D dock, and I WANT MY TRANSLUCENT MENUS BACK. Make them more translucent or at least give us a slider, like someone suggested before.
