YoYelloW
looking at the dmg as well, now, seems its not yet posted. > if itll get posted, it should be here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/ >> my "packaged" update was 341.1mb so that combo is roughly the same with 343 mb
shah123
Netkas workaround only works for the downloaded patch, not the software updating itself version (so says website).Yes, his first version of the blog post didn't mention that.looking at the dmg as well, now, seems its not yet posted.> if itll get posted, it should be here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/ Here is the dmghttp://www.apple.com/support/downloads/mac...omboupdate.html343mb
neodoru
obviously the update killed my beloved (kalyway) mac. I hope the restore will not fail! Don't be impatient like me!

TimeMachine flawlessly restored it to previously known state. You would need the DVD to boot though.
CaptainNemo
Oh boy - I'm happy to take a look at this forum. The software-update was already running but thanks to my slow 3MBit/s-line it wasn't completely downloaded. Hope that there will be an update for Kalyway 10.5.1 -> 10.5.2 soon And I thought with Vanilla & EFI the nightmare of such updates is over, because everything else works fine here incl. secruity updates etc., what crashed my Tiger hackintosh before... MoLebanonMan
Lol, yeah, im getting that kernel panic too with the "please restart" thing in 4 languages. I have an HP dv9500t CTO with kalyway vanilla. Might want to wait out this update...

Vanilla & EFI would be okay for smaller security updates and little application updates/patches.

radov4n
We really need to know which Kexts to back-up / restore.
chevy2410
So it didn't work for me either. It started booting and then got a kernel panic to restart my machine. I thought maybe since I installed via a real retail dvd that I might be ok. I was able to install the 10.5.1 update, but not this one. GERGÖ
Stop updating, you need to save some files before. Don't know what. You will trash the system.

theotherone
someone here with success installing the 10.5.2 update ala netkas instructions?
radov4n
Easier than Netkas' method (with all due respect to the man....) In Software Update, Select Download only. After you get the pkg; use Pacifist to install, deselect the kexts you want to retain or don't want to install. Works fine on my rig, GUID w/ PC_EFI installed from a Retail DVD. By consolation From http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...7036&st=20# Haven't tried yet, still installing kaly.

speedracer67
I've successfully updated my Hackintosh to 10.5.2, following Netkas's instructions. 1. DO NOT use Software Update! 2. Make sure you are updating from the standalone update: http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3...Combo10.5.2.dmg 3. I ended up having to reinstall my AppleHDA.kext and clear my kext cache to get sound working again 4. I haven't had to reinstall any other kexts, as of yet. 5. Follow Netkas's instructions perfectly, and you should be good to go. My System: Was running BrazilMac 10.5 updated to 10.5.1 Intel D975XBX Mobo (Bad Axe 1) Core 2 Duo E6600 2 Gigs Ram ATI Radeon HD2600 Pro (dual monitor working) MBR Partition Table Netkas EFI Bootloader via grub
