Netkas workaround only works for the downloaded patch, not the software updating itself version (so says website).
Yes, his first version of the blog post didn't mention that.

Oh boy - I'm happy to take a look at this forum. The software-update was already running but thanks to my slow 3MBit/s-line it wasn't completely downloaded.

Hope that there will be an update for Kalyway 10.5.1 -> 10.5.2 soon ;)

:) And I thought with Vanilla & EFI the nightmare of such updates is over, because everything else works fine here incl. secruity updates etc., what crashed my Tiger hackintosh before...

10.5.2 is a major update. Vanilla & EFI would be okay for smaller security updates and little application updates/patches.

u might try booting in safe mode and removing that kext. That's pretty much what netkas is sayin.

Easier than Netkas' method (with all due respect to the man....)

In Software Update, Select Download only.

After you get the pkg; use Pacifist to install, deselect the kexts you want to retain or don't want to install.

Works fine on my rig, GUID w/ PC_EFI installed from a Retail DVD.

By consolation From http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...7036&st=20#

Haven't tried yet, still installing kaly.

I've successfully updated my Hackintosh to 10.5.2, following Netkas's instructions.

1. DO NOT use Software Update!

2. Make sure you are updating from the standalone update: http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3...Combo10.5.2.dmg

3. I ended up having to reinstall my AppleHDA.kext and clear my kext cache to get sound working again

4. I haven't had to reinstall any other kexts, as of yet.

5. Follow Netkas's instructions perfectly, and you should be good to go.

My System:

Was running BrazilMac 10.5 updated to 10.5.1

Intel D975XBX Mobo (Bad Axe 1)

Core 2 Duo E6600

2 Gigs Ram

ATI Radeon HD2600 Pro (dual monitor working)

MBR Partition Table

Netkas EFI Bootloader via grub

Success !!!! :wacko::(

Installed the Combo Update using Netkas excellent instructions.

10.5.2 is running fine, already installed the graphics driver Update....

Reboot and shutdown does not work... Will try now the patched acpi platform kext.
