christypop
I have a new system working for a week on GMA950 onboard graphics, but I get mouse problems when using Firefox and BBEdit. I bought an OEM PNY GeForce 7300GT 256MB PCIe card (VCG7300GXPB) and used NVinject (both 1.3 and latest). I followed the instructions to CHOWN, CHMOD recursively & removed Extensions.mkext and the com.apple.kernelcaches. When I boot I get a kernel panic on the grey apple startup screen. I can't hit F8 or "Hit any key" to get into the boot loader and add the -v flag. It just doesn't do anything. Just continues the countdown, so I can't see the actual point of KP to report anything. I also tried Natit with the same procedure above. I wonder if anyone else has come across this problem and fixed it. I know other people have reported success out of the box using these techniques with the same card. Please let me know if there is some way around this. Thanks in advance for reading this or help. 10.5.1 iAtkos v1.0i ASRock Conroe1333 D667 PNY GeForce 7300GT 256MB PCIe card (VCG7300GXPB) Intel Core2Duo 2.2GHz Allendale E4500 2GB Ram No other PCI installed. Eddie Turfboer
When you use NVinject, you should set the NVCAP. Did you do that?
Wrenbird
also, try a different driver. titan worked very well in my experiences. you have a compatible card, so that's not the issue.
christypop
When you use NVinject, you should set the NVCAP. Did you do that? I didn't do that. It wasn't in the instructions I saw. Where do I determine the value it should be set to? Do I edit that within the NVinject.kext package? Thanks.
Eddie Turfboer
I didn't do that. It wasn't in the instructions I saw. Where do I determine the value it should be set to? Do I edit that within the NVinject.kext package? Thanks. It is indeed missing and a bit misleading stated in the forum there. But you can find it on the NVinject forum. christypop
As suggested by a coworker, I used the Punk92 NVidia installer. I added my device ID to the NVinject.kext. Didn't work, but it broke my GMA950 graphics though. It makes contextual menus go crazy, and turned previously working screen savers into blocks. Check this out. christypop
I have the same card just use Leopard Video Kext search it on the forums you will find it Hey thanks for the tip. I searched for that and got 37 pages of results. Any chance you know where it is?
christypop
As suggested by a coworker, I used the Punk92 NVidia installer. I added my device ID to the NVinject.kext. Didn't work, but it broke my GMA950 graphics though. It makes contextual menus go crazy, and turned previously working screen savers into blocks. Check this out. I was able to fix this by using Pacifist to replace the original OpenGL framework in /System/Library/Frameworks with the original iAtkos disk version. This was really difficult without being able to see any menus. I highly recommend caution before using the Punk92 installers as it requires replacing your current OpenGL framework. So back to square one. At least I can use my GMA950 right now.
christypop
I was able to do this just with NVinject 0.2.1 with no editing of plists at all. I just didn't know that you had to switch the video in the bios. Once I switched primary video device to PCIe it booted right up and everything is working. I know that probably makes me sound dumb, but I am surprised that nothing I've read over the past several days mentioned the BIOS settings at all. I was going to change that before, but I thought I might get left with no video at all.
audio01
Hi, Natit AND NVinject at the same time? Hmmm... I think you should use either of them not at the same time (the other shouldn't be there altogether). The best option is the NVinject.kext with the original Apple's nVidia kexts. Cheers! christypop
Everything is working fine now. I'm using NVinject and just needed to set PCIe as primary video device in the BIOS. BTW: I wasn't using both NVinject and Natit at the same time, but stating that I had tried both. Anyway, thanks for all of your help!
AndreaGalileo
I'm using NVinject with my 8800GT and i can get a descend resolution... any ideas? Thanks.
