westwaerts
yes i got it too, and some other posters in other places reported similar errors. as the news for 10.5.2 update report, there is a mayor graphic card support, what brings nearer, that the apple nvidia drivers need refurbishing. radov4n
YES! Update your NVInject. I've never had a single problem with the latest one; or better yet, switch to EFI strings in order to avoid NVInject alltogether.
InsanelyOne
I've just updated to 0.2.1 ... let's hope that fixed my problem.
InsanelyOne
Well ... this didn't fix my problem. Under high CPU usage I can still encounter the screen freezing up. And after checking out Apple's discussion forums, I see that this seems to be a problem for many people. Appears to be some sort of OpenGL issue. zackmario
This is happening with the EFI Strings method as well. It happens at boot, and QE gets disabled and everything slows down. Interestingly, rebooting with -f seems to fix it!?
cyclonefr
I get this problem sometimes too, even more using 10.5.3 kexts, that's why i rolled back to 10.5.2 kexts (from Leopard Graphics Update 1.0) which are a lot more stable. It's a shame Apple/NVIDIA can't code proper stable kexts on a FINAL release !
bryan9
Same problem here... any fixes for this? Thanks and regards, Bryan
Woutje
Update to the latest 10.5.5 kexts This will definitely fix your problem.. I had the same problem with my 9300m GS, which also is a G92/G94 GPU Good luck.. BTW: Make sure you have the right NVCAP value if you are using a notebook! bryan9
Thanks, Woutje - I will do so and report results - Bryan EDIT... After some research, I'm not yet certain that the 10.5.5 upgrade gets to the heart of the problem. I think there may be a hardware problem (defective GeForce cards) and a software problem (the Leopard Graphics Update distributed with 10.5.3). For many, the 10.5.5 distro fixes the software problem, but there are some out there (in Real Apple land as well as osx86) who are still experiencing lock-ups with their nvidia cards.... I believe there is a defect rate in the nvidia cards that was disclosed only by trying to run them under Mac OS; the operating system contributed its share of the problems, but that is fixed; those that remain, presumably, testify to hardware defects... ? --B. overshoot
Hello all, I just got one. I'm using 10.5.5 with nvinject 0.2.1 and it's the first time after 2 months of using my notebook. 10/21/08 9:21:31 AM kernel NVChannel(GL): Graphics channel exception! status = 0xffff info32 = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error Screen has freezed for some seconds. I wish i have no hardware problems. Regards,
sir mac alot
I have been having the same issues. This might fix it for you! on another computer I had a problem with installing NVidia-Leopard-Graphics-Kexts.pkg and a guy helped me on the ICQ and told me this would solve that problem. since that other computer has the exact hardware as this computer and was not having the NVChannel errors I decided to try his suggestion for this issue. Apparently the Apple updates (10.5.5?) installs 1.5.30 versions of the NVidia drivers, but the diabolik Vidia-Leopard-Graphics-Kexts.pkg installs the 1.5.24 version. The installer will not install over the new version so it is crucial to delete the 1.5.30 version first and then install. don't delete the nvkush or nvinject files. here are the steps: 1. goto /System/Library/Extensions 2. delete all NV* from extensions folder 3. delete all GeForce* from extensions folder 4. run the NVidia-Leopard-Graphics-Kexts.pkg installer from Diabolik 5. after installer finishes, run repair permissions 6. restart thanks to Diabolik for his great drivers and the helpful guy on ICQ! sir mac alot
looks like some software like Multiwina will crash with with Vidia-Leopard-Graphics. i updated to 10.5.6 and left the newer drivers. started getting stalling/freezing with the system.log showing kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! status = 0xffff info32 = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error kernel[0]: 0000000c kernel[0]: 00100000 0000009f 0001b8d5 00000010 kernel[0]: 00028216 00000308 02d10403 00000002 kernel[0]: 00000000 beef5f01 0b800081 kernel[0]: 0000000b i thought maybe 10.5.7 would fix this. it did not! now I have much more serious freezes with video going haywire and requiring a restart. the error repeating several hundred times. does anyone know, especially Diabolik, what the difference between his Vidia-Leopard-Graphics-Kexts.pkg and 10.5.6/10.5.7 drivers? i have swapped identical video cards, but still get the error. I have another computer with the mostly the same setup that does not have the errors. Less software. ie FinalCut i have tried so many different things. onyx automation scripts, removed LCC, turned off login items, updated software, stopped using certain software. OSx86 Tools Utility -ran all System Maintenance, etc.. nothing has worked. Ran Rember to test memory. All tests passed. anyone?
