Uscg.Matthew Posted February 3, 2008 Share Posted February 3, 2008 Hey guys.. I am trying to run my favorite Psx game GT2 which is running perfectly... But i am attempting to use my homemade Xbox usb controller... It works flawlessly in windows... but soon as i plug it in in OS X i get USB low power notice.. What could be causing this ? any help is appretiated... I am using a XPS 410 with mac.nub 10.4.10 installed (Freeking amazing!!! ) Thanks guys@!! inedible Posted February 4, 2008 Share Posted February 4, 2008 Are you plugging the controller directly into your board, or are you running through a usb hub? If you're running it through a hub, how many other usb devices are plugged into it, and does the hub have its own power cord? It could be that you really are running out of usb power (which windows wouldn't tell you about), which often happens if you plug more than one power hungry device into a usb hub which is not powered... and/or your xbox controller might be using more power than it should... to check, boot into windows and go to the device manager in the system properties control panel, select "universal serial bus controllers" and double click each of the entries that say "usb root hub"... there will be a "power" tab showing how much juice your xbox controller is really using.... Otherwise, it sounds like an error you could safely ignore... if you see in windows that you have plenty of power remaining on that usb bus, then osx is detecting it wrong. I've used xbox controllers on a real macbook before and got no such error... I'll have to try it out on my hackintosh later tonight though to be sure. inedible Posted February 4, 2008 Share Posted February 4, 2008 well I dunno if it helps you or not, but I just plugged my xbox controller into my mac and it's working fine... my controller is a madcatz wireless one, and I would have guessed it uses more power than a regular controller, since it's wireless... OSX tells me it's using 336mA, which seems pretty high. you might also want to check to make sure your wiring is good... it could have nothing to do with osx.. might just be that your wires are touching eachother. You may also want to try different usb ports... my laptop for instance, has two usb ports on their own hub, but the third port also has the camera and SD card reader attached internally it. *shrug* Good luck! Uscg.Matthew Posted February 4, 2008 Author Share Posted February 4, 2008 I have checked my wiring.. and i have rewired it.. it is also a madcatz.. but wired. no luck yet. it is only using 100mA ... I just dont.. understand.. Could it have anything to do with the selections driver wise while installing OS X ... Maybe? URG... So aggravating.. I just want it to work.. Btw thanks much for helping me . i really do appreciate it..
