Hi guys,

I'm pretty new in the MacOs world. Anyway, I would like to buy a Mac only to get Final Cut running. So far, I can't find a decent Mac Pro at less then $3000 around me; what I don't have it anyway.

nate256, can you certify this configuration will works out of the of the box (I've checked here : http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...L_10.5.1#Intel) : seems so.

I will be able to works with my 22" screen (1680 x 1050)? What is the install method Kalyway 10.5.1 wrote in the wiki ? Is it hard to install this Audio Sigmatel 9274D weaksauce12's package?

Thanks by advance!

I'm planning to buy this :

  • 1 x Mobo : Bad Axe 2 Intel D975XBX2KR (Intel 975X Express) (the one you recommanded)
  • 1 x CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Socket 775 FSB1333 (Fast dual core instead of slower quad-core)
  • 4 x 1 GB RAM Kingston DDR2 PC6400 (4GB of RAM)
  • 1 x HD 250 GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 7200 RPM 16 Mo Serial ATA II WD2500KS (16Mo for video editing)
  • 1 x Video card Gigabyte NX86T256H 256 Mo PCI Express (NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT ) (Not going to play with 3D)
  • 1 x Power Supply Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 400W ATX v2.3 12V

I don't have any MacOS X experience at all but I read a lot of stuff here and in the Wiki. Can anyone tell me I will be able to install MacOS X 10.5 + Final Cut Pro on this computer without any big issue? I don't want to through my money away :(:)

I would like to be sure this setup will have working Network, 1680 x 1050 resolution display, Audio and SATA drives without hardcore tweaking?

Thanks by advance for ANY advices!

well depending on your budget you should if you can spend the extra money and get 8 gigs of ram.

they are so cheap it wouldnt make sence not too

also the Q6600 is faster than the Duo, 8mb Chache for the quad

and a 4mb chache for the Duo also the Quad can easily be overclocked to 3.0 and higher with a decent cooler

I think you monitor sould be fine with the 10.5.2 drivers!

for sound, there is a sound patch but if is only 2 channel out and no in (cheap usb card would be a good idea any way, $5 on ebay) i got a 5.1 usb card for $50 but thats cause i needed it for my speakers

i use a wireless pci card for my network, but others have said that they got the board network working but double check on it!

looks good!! weaksauce has the guide for like 99.9% stabablilty

Yes the Q6600 can beat easily the E6750 with FCS and other multicore ready apps, 70% faster, with no overclock. And may be Im wrong, but the 975XBX2 doesn't offer support to 1333 FSBs, max is 1066.

I agree, Q6600 would be a lot better and I think 975XBX2 could have 1333 FSB support if you update it to newer BIOS, but I am not sure, try to check that at Intel web page.

Hey all,

Want to build my own Hackintosh to run FCP2. Can some of you folks that have running/working system post your system specs?

Thanks a bunch!

Moon

i run a Q9300 on sa P35-DS3P with 4gb ram and a 256mb Geforcet 7300GT. i used to have 6gb ram on it, but decided to stay 4gb, because after using the machine heavily on fcp studio apps (fcp, motion, soundtrack pro, compressor), anything above 4gb is just idle ram!

after setting up Apple Qmaster to utilize all four cores of my quad, i still end up using no more than 4gb of memory! hth :happymac:
