naddy69
There aren't drivers for this ethernet chipset yet. There won't be any until/if Apple starts using this chip in real Macs. I have this in my machine also. Easiest solution is to get a cheap PCI LAN card and use that. I'm using an old 3COM 3C905 card. It's ancient, but it works in 10.5.1 just fine with no fuss, it Just Works. Other supported chipsets are Broadcom 5701, Intel 8254, Intel 8255, Realtek 8139 and 8169. 3COM and Realtek cards are available on eBay for $10 including shipping. austinsnyc
I think this sucks that we can't get true apple support for these drivers since the other intel's fully supported we need to get to work on this and try to compile some new things and start testing! You'll just have to buy one elsewhere that will be compatible.

outZider
I just picked up a ThinkPad tablet that uses a similar chipset for the ethernet controller. In theory, it'd be pretty easy to port a driver over from FreeBSD, but I'm not sure I have the time to do so. I'll see what I can come up with over this week, and if I have any luck at all, will let you all know.
Wayfarer247
Coolio, and thank you. If you need help, I'm pretty sure some people would be glad to join in. PM me if necesssary.
Headrush69
In theory, it'd be pretty easy to port a driver over from FreeBSD. Not exactly. Sure you can learn the idiosyncrasies of that chipset but the driver still has to be be re-written to fit in with the IOKit framework of OS X. Casey Fulton
Is there a similar Intel device for which an open-source I/O Kit driver exists? The framework is pretty portable - perhaps we could just beat a similar one with a stick until it works? Casey.

Hagar
A driver for the 82566mm was just released, it seems to work for other 82566 chips, and in any case the source is available.
