Chunnan, really appreciate your efforts. Thanks very much.

I have followed the instructions and got rev8. My dmesg shows this:

Hi everyone!

I have changed the kexts and get also the KP like SinJon (Sinjons picture added) on my TP T41P.

T40_42IOPCCardKP.jpg

How to restore the originals or Fix the permissions, when I cant´t get in the GUI.

Would not like to Install the Hole OS again. Very thankful for a step by steb guide....

@Lennart: Boot your computer using the installation DVD. When the installer is loaded fire up a Terminal. Your Start Volume will be mounted below /Volumes, so you can cd in there. Basically all you've to do is to execute all the commands to move the old .kexts into their real location, remove cache files and probably fix permissions. And keep in mind that the root directory of your Start volume is /Volumes/<Start Volume Name>. ;)

Important Edit: I saw the same error as you had on my T60. If you look closely at the message you'll see that OS X can't find IOPCIFamily. After booting from a Installation DVD and opening a terminal, go to /Volumes/<Your Start Volume>/System/Library/Extensions/IOPCIFamily.kext

If you do an ls you should notice that there are two files in this directory that don't belong there: Info.plist and IOPCIFamily. Please do the following if this true:

# mkdir -p Contents/MacOS

# mv Info.plist Contents

# mv IOPCIFamily Contents/MacOS

Afterwards try again.

@Chun-Nan Is this probably a bug in the archive. After unpacking the directory structure in IOPCIFamily is missing. (This is for rev8.)

Otherwise I'm happy to state that I had an installation success on a Thinkpad T60 and a Thinkpad T41. For the latter it even fixes "timed out"-messages like these:

May 12 14:37:57 fairy kextd[10]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out waiting to write kernel symbols

So My Mistake: Loaded the kexts from the first post and forgot to Repair the Permissions.

My Solution: Booted with -x, Found Post no 502 Got the Package installed everything works.

Team IOPCI- Can You Edit the first Post, so the Most Lovely Installer would be there to see (It Is now Hard To Find)?

And allmost Forgot: THANKYOU, THANKYOU, THANKYOU.

Everything works fine now on a T41P

Hello everybody!

I've got a regualar Leopard PowerPC installation on my PowerBook G4 800Mhz. My problem is that there are no Leopard drivers for my DWL-G650 wireless PCMCIA card. On Tiger, I used Wireless Drivers 3.3 from OrangeWare, but they don't work anymore on Leopard. I read in this thread that someone managed to use a DWL-G650 on a Hackintosh, so I tried Chun-Nan procedure on my PowerBook.

I succesfully overwrited the IOPCIFamily and IOPCCardFamily files with the ones in rev8, but on a reboot (after repairing permission from Leopard installation DVD) I got a kernel panic soon after the apple logo. The first line was:

"panic(cpu 0 caller 0x0036D0C0):"Unable to find driver for this platform: \"PowerBook3,4\".\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1228.3.13/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1407"

then, below:

"Mac Os version:

Not yet set"

and some other lines.

I managed to get back to Leopard by recovering the files from a backup and repairing permissions again. But I had no luck in making my Wireless card to work, also with EqUaTe installer.

Can somebody please help me?

Ciao,

Guido

It looks like this should be fulling working and that my Drivers for the 2 cards should Pick up.

As shown, Both Cards are on the Apple Approved(used in Apple computers) Lists..

any pointers on how to get my Drivers AppleYukon2.kext and the the AirPort Drivers to "see" the hardware attached to these ports.

I also notice that all of the devices are listed in State "2", so I assume they are Asleep.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chun-nan and all, now i'm using leo4all v2 in my BenQ Joybook S41-448. I have problem with my wireless lan(Atheros AR 5006EG), i tried anything to make it's work, but until now it's still not working. I used Chun-nan version, the LAN card working perfectly, but the WiFi still not working. In the boot i see this error message

start [/sourceCache/AirPortDriverAtheros5424/AirPortDriverAtheros5424-235.9.3/src/driver/AtherosController.cpp:480] loaded unsuccessfully

What it's mean?

Any one can help me, please? :)

Could it be that Chun-Nan drivers don't work on a PPC computer? I would be very grateful if someone could help me since I really need my wireless card to work.

Thank you,

Hello, Chun-Nan,

Thank you for your PCMCIA/Cardbus reader! I was able to install it using the beta2 on post#502 and was able to improve my boot time from 5-6 mins down to 1 min. The reason was that previous to the PCMCIA driver you provided, the unknown device stalled the boot process.

My laptop comes with a CardBus RICOH RL5C476, which appears to be supported under your list on the top page. However, when I connect a memory card (SD) I get the following errors in /var/log/system.log, and the card is not detected:

Word to the unwise. Do not, for any reason, reboot your system after replacing IOPCIFamily.kext and IOPCCardFamily.kext before you redo the permissions (chown, chmod, and touch up the Extensions) as otherwise you are a dead man and will probably have to boot of the install disk and fix it all from there.

Great work by the way guys. Thanks for the kexts!

If you get into a kernel panic from forgetting to change .kext ownership, just pop in an install DVD and use Terminal from the installer. You should be able to go to your hard disk (located in the subdirectory /Volumes) and go execute chmod/chown.

(This has been mentioned on this thread before, but who can read 30 pages worth of posts?)
