Marcaen
Taken from my post in the main Fusion thread: Anyone have VMware Fusion 1.1 working on a Kalyway Leopard install with the latest patches applied? Whenever it starts to boot up a CD image or actual disk image, it locks up my whole system. Sometimes you'll see the beach ball and the mouse still works. It appears everything else is working, but the desktop is somewhat frozen (though you can still see mouse movement). Perhaps its related to NVinject... Edit: Dang it... Parallels appears to work ok so far... but I own licenses for Fusion.. Edit2: I have Fusion working... but only when I enable debugging mode So anyone have this working without having to turn debugging on? Parallels doesn't seem to have any problems (besides some known issues in the regular running.) Fusion works ok with debugging turned on. Would just like to get it working regularly. vicfalc09
I have VMware Fusion 1.1 working on my kalyway install and when I open the program it sees a boot camp partition, I have Leopard on one drive and vista on a second hd. When I try to run the boot camp partition I get this error: Any ideas of how to boot to my vista install on the 2nd harddrive???
Marcaen
Not sure. Have you checked the vmware logs to see what it is or isn't doing? You can also try turning on Debugging under Preferences. I am just trying to run regular virtual machines and not bootcamp style.

I had that too with my G80 (and I still have it on my G92) : this is some NVIDIA drivers bug, hopefuly it'll get fixed in 10.5.2 !
vicfalc09
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=57632http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=344195 The first option there says for when it is on the same harddrive.. the second option I tried and it does not work for me, i get an error saying no such command. Any help please?
macgirl
the second option I tried and it does not work for me, i get an error saying no such command. So are you in the right direcotry already? to run the command you need to add at the begining "./" because that directory isn't in the PATH you need to specify "where" it is the program you are calling so "./" is telling from where I am. I you are not in the right directory you need to type the whole path: /Library/Application\ Support/Vmware/vmware-tool-blah-blah options etc

vicfalc09
This is what I came up with when I executed that command: Unable to get the partition list from "/dev/disk0": The partition table is invalid (32). This is what I inputted: vic-falcs-mac-pro:Vmware Fusion vicfalc$ ./vmware-rawdiskCreator create /dev/disk0 1 ~/vmware/rawdisk ide
macgirl
could you post what "diskutil list" reports?

macgirl
You can try with 0 as partition (as it is BootCamp) or unmount the Volume before run the vmware tool Another option is to create the VMDK files from Windows VMware and then tranfer them to you Fusion configuration file. If none of this work try to see if there is a solution on the VMware Forums. I tried with my disk and I had no errors with any of the options. vicfalc09
I tried it unmounted, and I tried it as 0. Dont know what the problem is. I dont have Vmware on windows so I cant make those files. Let me know if you think of anything else and ill try that. I wonder why it says the partition table is invalid.... Does it have anything to do with the Vista NTFS Partition being read only? sama7896
Help Help Help! I tried everything and I cant get my Vista drive to boot....any suggestions???? you could use supergrub. Set it as cd image on vmware bootcamp settings. Set the fusion boot F2 and boot cd first. Afterwards choose on grub windows/advanced/boot partition/yourhd/yourpartition/. This is the only way i managed to make it work so far (without messing with the active partitions)
carlolaitano
I successfully installed VMWare Fusion 1.1 on my Kalyway OSX86. I installed XP and can run it fine. It's a bit slow (obviously) but it runs. Just for some extra info: I have Leopard installed as the native OS and the only one on my hard drive. I used Kalyway 10.5.2, Pentium D 820 2.8GHz, 3G Ram, nVidia Gefore 8600GT, Asus mobo, and the works. I really had no issues for installation and so far nothing has crashed
Le-Bebop
I installed VMware Fusion on my Hack. Run fine, but it it a little bit Slow when I want to see films (Ok, stupid idea to seeing film under XP, I have a Mac! but I tried just for fun)... I would want to run games but it is impossible, FarCry (for example) can be installed fine in XP but does not start. Any solution? can we increase the RAM, or change the graphic Card to run games under VMware Fusion, or it is just impossible...? For the moment I have just tried with FarCry, but may be games like Age of Myhtology can run (not 3D..) Any suggestion? [Edit] I have installed VMware Fusion beta 2 yesterday. Graphic parf increased ! FarCry can run! very slow but it runs! I have Increased the RAM of the VM (512>1000>1500Mo), increasing the game performance. but it is not enought. What is the option "use 2 virtual processors?" I have a core 2 duo (E2180), is this increasing a lot the perfomances of the VM?
