@Gravedigger:

So, you don't have internet connection anyway or did you?

The most wireless cards are not working under Mac OS X, 'cause it used "Airport" and you must emulate or masquerade normaly cards to get funcional...

@Gravedigger

I have an IBM T42p, just finished downloading kalyway 10.5.1, I'm a newbie in osx86.

Can you tell us which kernel, which video/audio drivers have you selected?

For your issue I've found in osx86 HCL for 10.4.8:

- Intel 2200 B/G wireless(MPCI) - swapped out for Atheros mini-pci working 10.4.6 kext

may be this work for us?

many thanks!

ciao!

all i selected on the install was the sse2 system and the mbr bootloader. but be patient it takes time. after the install it will sit on the apple screen with the rotating circle, it took about 10 mins to load os x after the install but after that it works like a charm. I still do not have wireless but i do have internet if i connect to my modem.

I have a T42 running Leopard. The card you listed is your lan card. The question here is if you have the Intel Wireless card as well or the atheros card. Do you have windows installed, if so, can you get me the devid of your card. If it is 168c,1014 I can walk you through getting wifi working. If it is the intel you are unfortunately SOL.

Ok I've installed leo following Gravedigger hint and it works (thanks ^^_ )-soundcard and lan works 'out of the box', wifi doesn't work but I have another priority now:the problem still remain the videocard, I haven't CI nor QE enabled so I can't switch resolution other than 1024x768.I've tried installing Natit for ATI, it seems that recognizes my video card (ATI Mobility Fire GL T2, 128MB) but all I got is a black screen and stucked pc.any ideas out there?many thanksciao!@tpmwrI have the Intel one... ;)

@komanec:

I've just selected SSE2 kernel and MBR partition scheme, all it's OK except wifi and QE/CI for ATI Mobility FireGL T2.

Try install from the scratch

-Format your HD using MBR scheme from Disk Utility

-Select SSE2 kernel only and MBR (the last option when you choose 'Customize')

BTW try to search in forum using last message of your boot, I've done so many times (I've reinstalled about 10 times from the scratch on external USB2 disk) and finally have Leopard working.

@mighel: I can't even select anything becouse the system restarts or hangs just after "MAC Framework Succefully initialized". I'll tried ToH version and iATKOS. I'll try KALYWAY tommorow maybe this will help.

Try with Kalyway, it's the easiest install I tried here...

and let us know your feeling!

Finally I managed to install it without any problem. It's starting OK but in english. When I select my preferable language only first menu is in it. Second thing is the airport. I've got Atheros AR5001X+ MiniPci card (168c), could someone make a step-by-step guide for installation?

Yes, 10.5.1 only support English... If you want have a different Language, you must use a previous version of Leopard (I use German from ToH Leopard 10.5)... Important is that it's Version fpr Leopard... You could used an original DVD, too...

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm working on getting the kalyway iso working on my T42, after failed attempts at getting a function dell latitude D620.

I'll let you guys know how it goes. I have the radeon 9600 with 1400x1050 14" screen, 2GB ram, atheros a/b/g wireless, and currently a spare 40GB hard drive so that I can keep my debian install nice and safe.

Hi, i'm trying to install leo on ibm t42 type 2373 with Radeon 7500. After loading darwin the system reboots even with -v -x parameters. Did anyone had this problem?

I have the same issue (with a radeon 9600 though). It restarts so quickly with -v even I can't even see the last message it posts before it does so.

The install went without a hitch, no errors there. I selected sse2, vanilla kernel (with acpi fix) and mbr .. hmmmm

you have to select SSE2 kernel ONLY and MBR partition scheme.

BTW anyone has resolved the radeon 9600 / mobility firegl issue?! (I mean QE/CI enabled)

I am running Mac os x leopard 10.5.1 (kalaway) on an Ibm Thinkpad t42, everything works as it should except, my wireless card. Are there any known solutions to this problem?Intel PRO/100/1000 LAN adapterthis is what the wireless card is .

Gravedigger, was yours a clean install or did it had a previous OSX on your thinkpad. I'm trying to do a clean install on my Thinkpad T43p and I am having very little luck.

I've installed on a 2.5" external USB drive.

Start your pc with external disk turned on, boot from dvd (I assume you have kalyway 10.5.1 dvd)

At the beginning of installation (after the language selection) choose Utility|Disk Utility

You should find your external hd in the left panel of disk utility.

Select it and format with native filesystem (I don't remember the name, guess it's HFS+) and MBR partition scheme.

You will find your usb disk in the targets for installation.

Anyway I've disconnected my XP disk, first... :)

After installation just select yr external disk as boot device and you're on.
