Hi,

 

Update 10.5.8 does not work correctly for me.

 

Error mention:

'Couldnt alloc class "AppleHDAController"

From path: "uuid"

Waiting for boot volume with UUID .............

Still waiting for root device'

 

The computer will not start up.

It is strange that the computer (in safe mode) works properly.

 

I have already tried the following:

 

* Reinstalled the MAC OS X 10.5.8 combo update and the 10.5.8 Jimmy's .kext pack.

* Repaired the rights and permissions;

* Reinstalled ApplaHDA the holder of 'AppleHDAController I'm not sure ?' separately and again;

* Swapped Apple HDA 10.5.8 with 10.5.7

But I think they are the same. They come both from the construction year 2008.

 

With 10.5.7 my system works perfectly and entirely proper.

I have a back-up but it would be great if 10.5.8 still should work.

 

Someone a suggestion?

works fine --- but I feel like I am getting mouse skips - simillar to those on 10.5.6 (with the newer quicktime version)

 

 

hmmmmmm

 

Edit: just saw theres a quicktime update in software that I did not install - going to do that now

I have solved the permitions problem, and edited the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext for compatibility

 

Note: You must not use any Legacy Audio Kexts with voodoohda installed! Remove them first!

 

 

I have tried the 10.5.8 package from the main page 2/3 hours ago.

How old is the package of your link?

The VooDooHDA has been updated, now with front mic support, no crackles.

 

going to update in a second on my mirrored partition.

Hope I can still use the HDA kext that Trauma! posted -- VoodooHDA always crackles here on two nearly identical setups..

Edit: just saw theres a quicktime update in software that I did not install - going to do that now

 

Just make a backup of AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext and remove it from /System/Library/Extensions/

 

You don't need to downgrade Quicktime :(

Hi everybody! Well, as the P5K-SE is not my primary "Hack" right now, I´d appreciate your testing in order to make a stable Installer ;) .

 

As far as I have tested, it should work fine, including audio with front mic support, with little system modification, it means, a more pure vanilla system.

It seems that the IOUSBFamily.kext driver by Slice makes my problems.

I have removed it and the computer boots now.

 

However it remains strange, the IOUSBFamily.kext does not differ in 10.5.8 compared to 10.5.7.

Both come from the production year 2008.

 

So a modified version should work on 10.5.7 and 10.5.8?

 

Hi, I had a working version, but when i installed P5K-Family_10.5.8.pkg i cannot no longer boot due to 'still waiting for boot devices' what can i do?

 

I had the same problem.

 

I have removed the IOUSBFamily .kext driver by Slice.

After that i reinstalled the MAC OS X 10.5.8 combo update and the 10.5.8 Jimmy's .kext pack.

 

This worked for me.

 

Hopefully slice will make a new edited IOUSBFamily.kext driver for MAC OS X 10.5.8.

Because the sleep function is not working anymore.

Atm im roling back to 10.5.7.

So you can´t boot then!

 

Well, insert your Boot123 cd, then load the instalation DVD

 

After the instalation is loaded, select utilities, terminal

then go to the volume mac is installed

 

cd /Volumes/YourVolumeName

cd System/Library/Extensions/

rm -rf Unwanted.kext

 

Reboot, install the correct kexts and your are done

 

..

 

The new .pkg fixes that.

Is it working fine for you ?

My mouse lags are gone since I reinstalled a Disabler Kext (which disables AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext )

Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product´s vendor for an update.

 

( I am also getting this message for Attansic)

Is what I get at startup - I first installed the 10.5.8 and then the 10.5.8 P5K Family Package.

Seems like the installer did not work properly- aside of this message it works fine.

The new Voodoo HDA is indeed crackle free ... nice ;)

The operating system cant load the .kext. etc etc.

For everyone having problems with kexts, fix the permitions with

 

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions

 

That should do the trick...

 

 

FIXED THE INSTALLER, GET IT HERE (LINK) VERSION 0.2 (hope the last fix, please test in a p5k-xx mobo :( )

It looks like the installer didn´t keep the permissions setting inputed before the build, so I got the .kexts from the extensions folder to make sure they were correct.

 

IN ORDER TO GET THINGS RIGHT, YOU´D BETTER REINSTALL THE 10.5.8 UPDATE, THEN RUN THE INSTALLER AGAIN, THAT SHOULD CLEAN THINGS UP... THAT IS A TIP!

The 10.5.8 update did that, you should get the yukon.kext or yukon2.kext than it will work again

 

here you go the ( link ) Use universal installler to install that, and leave the Vanilla IONetworking if you wish to! :blink:

well, about the display... You´ll need the adapter to make it work.

 

I am very, very satisfied with this Apple 24" display, as it was a gift! I´m not sure I´d pay more than 400 bucks in a hardware I´d get cheaper! ;)

floppy = 1.44

Graphics = Geforce 8600GTX 512 MB

Display = 20" Asus 1680x1050

Hard Disk = 3X SAMSUNG SATA II 500 GB 32MB Cache (ok)

DVD+RW = SATA LG

Floppys don't work in mac... deactivate them in the bios... remove all the kexts you have installed before (specially LegacyHDAPlatform... and any other Legacys you may have installed), then apply the pack, post the results.

Your answer has arrived late.

I reinstalled macosx10.8, then I installed p5k_family_10.5.8, then I installed appleyukon.kext ;

now go immediately to crash.
